How can one identify a Jackson model? I've got a serial, but there are no serials in its range on the jackson site. Also, the jackson site seems not to have been updated for at least 3 years.

If it helps, the serial is 9702681

it's a lefty dinky style with shark fins, chrome hardware, bound fretboard, UNpainted neck, and HSS pickup arrangement with a 5-way blade. Nothing I can find in their catalogs from recent years looks like it at all.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Jun 2,2008 7:21pm
Oh, and it had Duncan designed PUPs in it, not the real Duncans.

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Jun 2,2008 7:39pm

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Jun 2,2008 7:42pm
Nope.

Would pics help? I can take a couple quickies.

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Jun 2,2008 7:47pm

I got an SL1 made sometime in the earyl 90s that I rarely play. i just use it for spank material.

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Jun 2,2008 7:51pm

toggletoggle post by mortalis  at Jun 2,2008 7:53pm
if you're interested, i'm seriously considering selling my RR1 and KV2. i think they were both made before fender bought jackson, too.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Jun 2,2008 7:55pm
FUCK YOU, RIGHTIES!!!!!

That said, pics are uploading

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Jun 2,2008 7:55pm

mine has the pile o' skulls artwork, and the KV2 has blue ghost flames. but yeah, i'd rather a solid color.

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Jun 2,2008 8:03pm
i would say its a JS30DKL, but the bound fretboard makes me think otherwise.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Jun 2,2008 8:08pm
Js 30 has dots and dual humbucker. I got fins and HSS

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Jun 2,2008 8:10pm
well shit on me.

later.

First I want to figure out what this guitar is.

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Jun 2,2008 8:17pm
i initially had similar issues with my serial number even with a usa sl2. you can call them though and that will solve the quandry. I found out what shop mine was made, that it was pre-fender etc.

the fact that it has a stock jackson in the neck was the dead giveaway on the pre-fender ness.

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Jun 2,2008 8:26pm
of course, but it still felt good to hear an "authority" say it.
and by authority I DONT MEAN YOU!!
lulz...

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Jun 2,2008 8:27pm
I'm going to try having Tony at Music Unlimited give them a call.

Nick, what color hardware does yours have?

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Jun 2,2008 8:29pm edited Jun 2,2008 8:30pm

That is a jackson DK2. Pre 03 model to be exact. Probably from the 00 era.

Did someone say kv2 nd rr1 for sale? Man am I a sucker for any real jackson...

www.stevesmusiccenter.com/JacksonDK2L.html there is a little more info. This one here seems to be an 04ish. Black trem with chrome tuners was rare. 05 they had all black hardware. 03 model and prior had all chrome hardware.

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Jun 2,2008 9:26pm
pete hows the yoga going?

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Jun 2,2008 9:34pm
Good. I do my tape 4 times a day. It makes me fart.

toggletoggle post by Blue  at Jun 2,2008 9:35pm
i thought DK2L, but i figured that was too easy hah.

toggletoggle post by ArrowHeadNLI at Jun 2,2008 9:39pm
Well, it threw me off. The newer DK2s have black hardware, and real SD pups. Even that link Josh showed has a photo just like my guitar, but the description says black hardware and SD pups.

I guess Fender actually DID make a few improvements, as much as I hate to admit it.

I might consider if you can point me in the direction to get at least a hand dooey from a cute lady. If you can get me some one choke on my old one eyed monster, then shit, we just might be able to negotiate a price.

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Jun 2,2008 9:50pm
i am always interested in jacksons... especially with people constantly trying to buy mine haha. Have any pics of the KV2?

only reason they have duncans in the dk2s now is because ltd and schecter had been pwning the midrange market for years, and they figured if they wanted any sales they should finally step up to bat with a decently loaded midrange offering.

True that. They also have a contract with grover and a lot of them typical jackson tuners are really grovers. They also stepped up in the wiring/potentiometer department too.

if you wanna know more about it, the jackson charvel forum is loaded with jackson nuts.

but not the neck construction options :(

in the 600 dollar range Jackson's guitars have HZs (edit, they just updated a couple guitars in the MG line to actives), liscensed grover tuners, liscensed floyds, and bolt on necks.

for the same money you'll get an LTD with OFR, grovers, active EMGs and neck through construction. Jackson is throwing the middle market out the window.

I've heard their USA line has been declining over the last couple years too. It's a shame because some of the best guitars ever were 80s and 90s jacksons.

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Jun 2,2008 11:27pm
USA line IMO has stood the same but soared in price. they are getting so much for USA guitars now it is stupid. I am glad I had my custom shop built when I did.

toggletoggle post by sinistas   at Jun 3,2008 7:39am
I've given up on Jackson's new shit, I was psyched to get my SLSMG for as cheap as I did, because there's no way I could afford a new one.
