Hey guys, I've just launched a touring resource website for bands that some of you may be interested in. It's got a venue database that people can add to and update, all kinds of maps, articles, interviews, and so on. Check it out and tell me what you think...the good, the bad, the ugly, everything.
Thanks for reading. www.torganon.com

i just skimmed around on the website a little bit, so i haven't gotten in-depth with it, but so far i'm impressed with it. good stuff.

sounds like a great idea. from the perspective of someone who has been in a band for a while but never been on tour im sure it would be of some help.

maybe itd be good to have a "stuff you need to bring with you on tour" section. im always wondering about those items that you regret not bringing once your out there on the road. maybe add a tips and advice section something like that.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 11,2008 3:58pm
I back leon's article hard.

toggletoggle post by dreadkill  at Apr 11,2008 4:14pm
leon's article is great. just read it over.

toggletoggle post by archaeon at Apr 11,2008 4:17pm
This has a ton of potential. good idea.

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Apr 11,2008 4:22pm
this is kinda neat from what I've seen, the gas and weather shit is bomb

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Apr 11,2008 4:30pm
leon has the ticket-

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 11,2008 4:35pm
Bring bulk amounts of edible condoms.

This is all I know about touring. And it's just based on raw logic.

my number 1 rule for touring:

1 pair of pants.

toggletoggle post by corpus_colostomy at Apr 11,2008 5:08pm
would they be "hotpants?"

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 11,2008 5:22pm

Good suggestion. We'll add it to the article list. A friend sent me Leon's thing and I thought it was really good, especially for being a quick general write up.

We're going to have guest writers for articles in the future, is there anyone else in particular that you guys would like to hear from?

Thanks for all the feedback, lets make this awesome.

I think leon's thing is version 3

Awesome idea. Very convenient for our broke asses going on tour for the summer.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 12,2008 11:13am
make a cellphone/sidekick version since most bands will check on tour.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 12,2008 11:13am

Thanks, I'm already working on it. It'll be pretty crucial.

I'll definitely have to take a look @ the site when TYAG is back from tour. For a band that collectively has not toured that much at all, I think we're doing pretty damn well so far. I'll be comparing our experience to the site and see how everything matches up. In my opinion, you can never have enough resources like this since everyone ends up with different stories, perceptions and attitudes when it comes to the touring experience.

So far I'd say all you need on tour is chloroform (sp?), a pocket pussy, cameras and a van full of candy.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 13,2008 1:39pm
my uncle had a van full of candy

toggletoggle post by markfuckingrichards  at Apr 13,2008 2:45pm

Yeah, this is what we're trying to do with the interviews. We're running the same questions by different kinds of bands to see how their answers differ. DIY bands to package bands to old schoolers and so on.

toggletoggle post by sxealex   at Apr 13,2008 4:39pm
cool

toggletoggle post by alexc  at Apr 13,2008 6:04pm
yo jeremy, sam nevin showed this to me yesterday. its an awesome resource and was mega helpful. the only thing that i would ask is that you list more diy type venues on the site. it seemed to me at least that most of what was listed were bars. maybe thats what you had set out to do. just a suggestion. either way, thanks for making this.

toggletoggle post by alexc  at Apr 13,2008 6:09pm
oops i just read that users can add their own venues...i am dumb

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 13,2008 6:46pm
I will have to add links to you venues from my venues.

toggletoggle post by gravityblast   at Apr 14,2008 7:30pm
That would be awesome. I'm compiling a list of local/regional communities (like RTTP) for the site as well...
