Has anyone else had this done?

opinions on jewelry, foods, etc would be appreciated.

also, is teeth/gum damage and infection as big a deal as they make it sound on wikipedia?

I'm pretty prone to infection and my body is very intolerant to piercings, so I want to have all my bases covered.

Both people I know that pierced their lip got nasty infections. With a combination of that and all of our friends calling them fags they both hadda take them out.

Standard lip piercings usually aren't too bad as far as teeth/gum erosion goes as long as you have the proper size ring in. Studs, especially with standard labret piercings, are prone to cause way more damage.

A vertical labret is said to cause the least damage because it hardly touches your teeth unless you bite on it. This is probably what I'm gonna go for eventually because I'd rather not go through bullshit erosion again.

If you haven't already, you might also want to try bmezine.com. Theres usually plenty of helpful articles on each kind of piercing there.

i had my lip pierced 5 times, among other piercing and body mods. if you take care of them you'll be fine. however i think you should rethink getting something pierced its so played out like five years ago.

go get some scarifactions and be happy with life or at least if you get something pierced make sure you can do suspensions from it.

ive never had any infections/problems with my 3 lip piercings.

keep a bottle of listerine with you at all time.

I got my lip done. Tt was free so wasting money wasn't an issue.

I didn't get it to be original or creative. I got it because I like the way it looks.

Plus, anyone who knocks people who do do it for creativity should probably look at things like their shoes, hair styles, etc.

I got my tongue pierced once then I just had to work on the being cool thing. I haven't got around to it yet but the tongue ring is gone.

I had my lip pierced twice. Had it in for like a year and a half. No problems what so ever. I tried piercing my ears, but that didnt work out due to infection and shit, but for some reason, no problems with my lip, or labret

in 94, I just pushed a pin thru my lip. it's still there now.

I pierced my bottom lip twice (snakebites) a couple of years ago. I still have them now. I did have it pierced three times, but the labret piercing caused minor gum erosion. Supposedly, if you take it out soon enough, you may be able to regenerate from any damage. It's fine now, and not really noticable.

Basically, I just diluted listerine with water, and rinsed my mouth out after every meal, and cigarette for the first week or two. The most annoying thing were the crusty things that form around the ring while the wounds are healing. Rinse your mouth often so they don't build up. It can be slightly painful if you move the ring, and they go into the wound. My lip also swelled up at first, but eventually went down. Other than that, there were no significant infections.

Rince your mouth everytime you eat/smoke (try not to smoke if you do), alcohol free mouthwash, and sea salt soaks (1/4 teaspoon of sea salt to 8oz warm water). Soaking your lip might be tough, you can do a hot compress with paper towels, cotton balls, etc. if you want. I don't know how neccessary the mouthwash is as I've never used it to clean my mouth, but I guess it's recommended.

when i got my tongue pierced they gave me this mouth wash that was anti-sting.. so you could use alot and it wasn't such a chore... aww fuck.. i totally forget the name of it... they shoulld have told you about something like that
