I am also poor. I dont want to buy down at GC because theyre pricey as fuck. So Ive been looking on ebay for a deal.

What do you guitar nerds think? I dont know all too much about amps, since ive only owned one besides the beginners single 12" box. I have a Crate BX150 now, and all I know is it isnt loud enough- only 100w.

Begin.

Wait... a bass amp? No comment from this guitar nerd.

Yes, bass amp. I guess I should have mentioned that.

BASS AMP.

i've never heard of that amp company before, so i can't give a completely accurate statement about it, but my 4x10 cabinet alone costs over $700. so to get a head and cab for $500 kinda tells you something. but overall it does sound like a good deal. it's definately not a top bass amp brand, and i wouldn't reccomend buying it before at least trying it out and seeing how it handles and such, but the price isn't too bad. if you did have the money good bass amp companies are SWR, Ampeg, Aguilar, PJ Bass, Fender, and Warwick. those are the only ones i can think of off the top of my head

These are just my opinions, but its the best advice I can offer you.

Firstly, DONT buy that amp/cab off ebay. Its a no name brand that you probably wont be able to contact, and when it shits out on you, which it probably will, the tech you take it to might not have a fucking clue what to do with it. It probably sounds pretty terrible too I'd bet.

Keep your eye on craigslist or bassgear.com in the next couple weeks as I'm sure lots of bass nerds with families to buy christmas presents for will be selling extraneous gear like crazy. I highly recommend avoiding ebay for electronic items if you possibly can, and dealing with someone directly through a classified ad.

If you're looking for a good deal and don't have a huge budget, get a GK 800RB or GK1001RB and a GK 4x10 or a 1x15 w/ a horn. If you have a little more money than what a used GK rig would cost, I'd say try Ampeg (SVT3Pro and 410HLT, 410BXT) or even better Genz-Benz.

If you can afford it, I highly recommend buying Mesa gear because you will never need to upgrade. I think its the best out there, even better than boutique brands like Aguilar, Glockenklang, Eden and PJB. The MPulse 600, the Bassis M2000, (hybrids) and the 400+, and the Bass Buster (all tube) are all great amps that will be reliable and sound amazing. The 400+ and the Bass Buster will be more expensive in the long run as you will need to re-tube them periodically.

If you can't afford both a Mesa head and cab, I'd say buy a Mesa head and a cheaper cab and upgrade the cab later.

... god I'm a nerd...

Anyways, I hope this helps.

This one looks good too. New tubes...

If I needed a new amp, (which I do since mine was stolen- I just can't afford one), I would buy that without blinking an eye.

Fuck, at that price, you could by a 1x15 mesa cab as well and have yourself a pro rig (that many people would envy) just like that.

Its mine fucker. Haha, thanks for all the advice guys.

If I were you, I'd check out hartke and carvin. They both have halfstack combos around the 600$ range. I have a hartke vx3500 half stack I paid 600$ for, 350 watts, tube simulater, onboard eq, nasty amp. and I got carvin Redeye full stack for just arounda grand. (although hartke has a halfstack in the 600$ range) Backline by gallien has a cheap half stack, I'd avoid it though.
