Right now, there is a myth swirling on the internet that the Syrian opposition is primarily Al-Qaeda and according to some, it is false at no cost. They state that the fact that some Al-Qaeda affiliates are a fraction of the broader rebel force should not deter the United States from punishing the Assad regime for its crime against humanity. The Obama administration has been very careful to support rebel forces without supporting Al-Qaeda factions.
