How does a band suddenly go from being the hippest band on the scene to the biggest joke in doom?
I'd like to announce the formation of a new band called The Scimitar. It consists of myself and Gein from Black Pyramid as well as drummer Brian Banfield. Black Pyramid will be playing out much less in 2013, so Gein and I decided to start a new project. It will basically be just an extension of BP, same style of songwriting, same tunings, etc. We have two songs near completion, and we're working on a cover of Motorhead's "Metropolis". Black Pyramid isn't going anywhere, just think of The Scimitar as an extension of that band. We should be ready to play shows in March or April. - Darryl

Why?
Darryl is just on the cups of being an even more annoying outspoken frontman than Andy was. Just when you thought the credibility could not get any lower here's one more nail in the coffin of this band's legacy.

That was the first thing that popped into my head. A band that made their reputation on ripping off The Sword ruins said reputation renaming itself the closest thing to The Sword they could come up with. Smoke another one posers.

The amazing things was we all assumed it was just Crazy Andy and then they replaced him with someone who seems equally crazy. They all seem to be fucked in the head. Maybe something in the water in Western MA

They were awesome. Past tense. Then Andy went off the deep end and left the band to live in a tent doing yoga with his rabbits or some weird bullshit and they replaced him with a fat old guy who can't sing and seems to be similarly unhinged mentally based on his constant online rants. They got a lot worse since. The other two guys are kind of douches with huge egos just not the same batshit insanity of the two guys who have fronted.
