Was only at these from your list but all three were home runs. It's hard to choose between them but I probably had the best time at Suffocation with Horna a hair behind, Inq a hair behind that.
I can't remember why I flaked on Superchrist. Ugh.
My live music year 2012 was a very good one. I had a couple of good trips, especially down south to see Primordial twice. In Atlanta, getting to see Pretty Maids was awesome, and Solution .45 exceeded expectations. In the spring, I went west to Illinois to see Pharaoh and Brocas Helm at Ragnarokkr, but the Brocas set was kind of a head scratcher (no rehearsal, a guitar solo that went on forever resulting in them having to cut Skullfucker).
Closer to home, I saw an INCREDIBLE set by Y&T at a bar in Rhode Island that I can't remember. I was giddy about getting to see Morbid Angel; they and Grave did not let me down. Napalm Death at the Middle East was something special.
Outside of metal, there were three shows I was very glad to have caught this year: Marillion at Paradise (flat-out best show I saw all year), Allan Holdsworth at Johnny D's, and Altan (the Irish Celtic group) at Davis Square Theater. Thr3e at TT The Bear's tickled my prog nerd nerve; I'm glad I got to see them do a headline set without driving an hour.
Locally, I watched many excellent sets including Bog of the Infidel, Hessian (ME, but the PA one was also cool), Hekseri, Herugrim, BSV's bands, and Set. I still did not get to see Ipsissimus :(
Overall there were a ton of Good-to-Excellent shows this year, I missed quite a few I would've liked to have seen, and was disappointed by almost nothing. Also excited to have joined a couple bands; here's to a productive 2013.
This came out longer than I really intended...oh well |

Yeah, there you go. Forgot about Maiden |
|
Probably the most FUN I had at a show this year was at Ralphs when we played with Untombed, Engorged and Mausoleum. Not necessarily the best sets or anything, but a solid show overall. |
|
I totally missed KISS :............c |
|
Also fuck the haterz, The Devils Blood killed it at MDF. |
|
Death to All / Gorguts in NYC in June was easily my best show of 2012; Rush in NH and Primordial in Rochester NY were both quite memorable and excellent as well. Oh yeah, Agalloch at the Middle East was quite the show too.
Regrettably, I only went to maybe twelve concerts this year, and most of them I actually regret spending money on. |
|
All ammonia booking shows! |

Manowar was fantastic a couple weeks ago in Worcester.
Martyrdoom was fun, especially Dead Congregation.
Inquisition at the Middle East really impressed me.
Pallbearer had one of the best sounding sets I saw all year.
The Speedwolf show in Allston was a fun drunk mess.
