I don't get the hate for his vocals. They're a different band and have been using his voice for like 7 albums now. I think he has a good 70s prog voice which is a style they've taken on. The newest album gets me pumped, it' one of my favs this year.
I heard one song on vinyl last week and it sounded good. Other than that, it's on my list to buy but I don't drool over them anymore. Actual 70s prog plz.
Bought new cd the other day. Its better than the last two, still nowhere near their best. I dig it. Nothing will ever touch trve 70s prog because frankly, it had to be made in the 70s, but I still like to hear a valiant attempt these days.
No idea. All The Sinclair announced was that all their shows up to a certain date were to be moved due to construction not being finished.
I would be going to see Torche there(go ahead, hate) but they moved it to the Royale.
I may be seeing Titus Andronicus there later this month though, because I love me some Neutral Milk Hotel worship, so i'll let you guys know the quality of the venue.
Pallbearer is worth it for me to go. Enslaved will be a bonus, hopefully they play 1 or 2 good songs. I take it this is some other "Ancient Wisdom" and not the swedish one....?

This music really isn't that bad, but oh my god, that video... those lyrics... their excessive amount of tattoos and overly serious expressions... their fucking band name. These guys are the DEFINITION of tools, oh man. NO SUPPORT

gotta love lulzy openers. When we played with watain one of the supporting bands was the gayest thing Ive ever seen. It was like AFFLICTION- clothed black metal. It was either Withered or book of black earth.

It was with Agalloch. One of the worst bands I have ever seen. There was part where the singer was rattling chains as part of the song.
nice, unfamiliar with the venue but its a welcomed change from some of the more commercial spots. looking forward to seeing pallbearer, as i missed them last time around. i don't think i've heard any enslaved past 'vertebrae'.

it was a hammer skin, he got beat up prettye arly on. I was on like a quarter of shrooms when we played and left once I saw book of black dicks. Bummed me out.

the venue made a facebook event and called the band paul bearer...thats what i found funny. Pallbearer is a real word...in the dictionary and yet the venue calls the band paul bearer like the wrestling manager...

Don't care about this show at all. Would possibly care if they screened the academy award winning major motion picture "Black Metal" while Paul Bearer was encased in a concrete tomb.
I'm not entirely sure the same Pallbearer is doing the Black Metal soundtrack. Logo is different and the clip from the trailer doesn't really sound like them. I could probably look it up to confirm but I'm blocked from a lot of the net at work and don't really care.
But you both have 2 V's in your name... I need to get on it to shoot this show.

So, Ancient VVisdom.......................a band that wants to look like a metal band, write lyrics like King Diamond or Ghost, but not sound like a metal band at all.
This is a band that all my friends who don't like metal would love.
First band was drunk thrash. Not bad. Second band was called karkaos. Weedily spinefarm stuff. Great guitar work and performance but notmy thing. My french is twrrible but I think there is onemore band before enslaved.

Haha they're really late and most have left. If they still play, it'll be a really small show. They just put grutle on speakerphone up to the mic. They're blowing through red lights and shit.

Paulina Michael Schlow owns this place. You can't get more commercial, other than maybe being part owned by Dan Aykroyd.
Fucking wow. I just got back cuz my cab driver had no fucking idea where he was going even though I gave him the address. Nonetheless, fucking EXCELLENT performance. A couple songs off riitiir, ruun, alfadr odin, the watcher, CONVOYS TO NOTHINGNESS, as fire swept clean the earth, ISA. So solid. Hope they can make it down to you guys tomorrow.

Seems like everybody that went to that show came out either thinking the show was amazing or thinking the show was fucking terrible. I don't know why though, I thought both Opeth and Enslaved were excellent that night.
It was a great set, but it got cut short by a one or two songs. Convoys of Nothingness(!!!!) and Allfağr Oğinn were clearly the highlights of the set. If they had played As Fire Swept Clean the Earth like they do other nights, it would of been perfect. They have a pretty crazy amount of material to choose from these days.
I like the Sinclair. Sounded good. I was watching the show from the balcony that hung over the sound booth. Lots of great spots to watch...unlike the Middle East, which is pretty much a hallway.

I had the opposite reaction. That House of Blues show had my least favorite Enslaved set and one of the best Opeth sets. Mostly because they played a lot of old material.
I thought Opeth's sound was phenomenal that night. I just wish Akerfeldt would've shut the fuck up for two seconds. Dude loves the sound of his own voice.
Opeth(seen six times) and Enslaved(only saw the once, sadly) were both great that night, and both had amazing sound quality as well. I remember wishing that Enslaved's set was longer though.

Sounds excellent. Wish I could've went. Are they still doing a black metal cover of the Immigrant Song live, or was that a last-tour exclusive thing?

Opeth, to me, was the type of band that shouldn't have any in-between banter or even announce song titles. The songs performed live should have just flowed right into one another.
They've put on some of the most entertaining and memorable live sets out of all the shows I've been to.

Last time I saw Enslaved was with Alcest. Enslaved performed very well but Alcest stole the show, in my opinion.

I'm sure you remember 10+ years ago when no one paid attention to opeth and everyone would chatter during their softer parts and in between songs. Mikeal would barely speak; not many people knew who they were.

Well of course. Alcest are absolutely amazing and while i'm at it, I really like Junius as well. I wish I didn't miss the commuter rail from Worcester that night, three bands I really wish I could've seen. (Edit to add: even worse was the fact I had already purchased two tickets to the show that ultimately went to waste)

I love Opeth. I don't care if people think Opeth suck now or always sucked or whatever. All their albums are great IMO. Even my least favorite albums, Blackwater Park and Deliverance, are still pretty good compared to a lot of the stuff other bands release.
