I love that they're using sheet music, but I'm not a fan of the clean vocals and peppy drums.

I enjoyed The Divinity of Oceans and I'm sure they'll deliver the goods once again.

Agreed with snowden regarding the clean vocals. I listen to some bands where the singing isn't good but works for what it is. Not so in this case. This clip is pretty cool. Don't see what reading sheet music has to do with anything.

I never understood the point of posts like these.

Not much, really. I just like the idea of one band member printing up immaculate sheets of music/tab and bringing them to the recording session. I'm sure he got brutally razzed by the rest of the band.

Haha yeah I hear ya. Some kid in jazz band in high school wrote out the sheet music for carol of the bells for the whole band and our teacher threw it in his drawer never to be seen again. We were pissed.

I like the clean vocals and the cookies. This band is pretty awesome.

Divinity of Oceans was ok, it did not grab me the way the majesty of The Call of the Wretched Sea did. will still listen.

Personally, I think they raised the bar with The Divinity of Oceans. It has more of a death/doom feel, juxtaposed with some extremely tranquil and drifting clean passages. I hope it picks up where the last album left off.

We were way ahead of Ahab on the clean vocal thing, anyhow.

seconded, their first album is one of the best examples of bleak death/doom, but let's admit you can only do so much with that style, a band as good as ahab needs to spread their wings over time.
