first off what was usually a 15 minute ride took an hour

too many teenagers who can't drive
anyhow...

i missed the opener

and i got there at 7:45...i got my premium media/press parking spot
and i had my media pass and photo pass waiting for me..however..clearchannel requires escorts everywhere since they do not want you snapping random photos..anyhow...8:05 rolls around and i hear screams and music....so i tell the guy...hello??? band is on stage....and i figured screw it...so i walked over and pushed my way through to the vip entrance and then they tell me i cannot go in until my escort arrives..so i say the band is already on and i've been waiting already...and i only get first 3 songs...whatever...so i'm stuck just beyond the entrance for another 15 minutes...

finally escort arrives and tells me no worries i just missed No Doubt and no one was allowed to shoot them except the boston herald and their official photographer...anyhow

apparently the pr record label person who supposedly hooked me up with no doubt is no lnoger there and 4 other people like me got the shaft....but the escort gave me the new guys name


anyhow...i'm in the press/backstage area and go inside our trailer to get something to drink beer or water..i choose water...and sit down and watch the no doubt show on one of the tv's..there are other press people with their laptops but the door doesn't lock...no way would i keep anything of value inside...

it was cool to watch...
at one point gwen started doing cartwheels and you could not hear it on the tv but i i could hear the crowd screaming from outside which was cool

walked around a bit back there, saw travis, and when 9:30 came along we all got escorted to the stage and i had 2 cameras so i didn't have to switch lenses one was aaron's and the other myne

so i turn around with my back to the stage and look for the sound booth..i spot it and immediately spot THE mohawked one..i waved for a bit and the other photographers are like...who are you waving too...i said my friend mike with the mohawk..he's in a band...i went on to plug ascendancy ..anyhow...they were like the guy with the beard and glasses....i'm like yep....i snapped a photo of him but i'm pretty sure it came out blurry and then the show started...

right after the end of the second song one of the photographers jumped the barricade and ran into the audience so they made us all leave...that sucked...first song was a really short one...so not much time to take photos

but i used my 70-200 mmmmmmm

anyhow i lost the gang and sat down and listened for a few songs until i heard i miss you..it's a slowish new the that i really like (whatever...make fun) anyhow then i figure i'll go back to the media area...and the escort was there and told me what happened i told her i was sitting right on the side of the stage waiting for someone... ah well then i left and more traffic...

I'm not a fan of any of the bands but No Doubt put on a pretty good show, lots of crazy lights. Blink sounded atrocious. All we could hear was kick drum and the guitarist's vocals, the one with the obnoxious whiney voice who thinks he's funny but is a total ass. Anyway, I thought I was back at the Palladium with that mix. Only cool thing was half-way through the snuck their drummer back to where the sound board was where they had stashed a second drum kit and he did a little drum solo on a rotating platform in the middle of the crowd. Sounds cool in print but didn't turn out very impressive. I still have more fun with a crowd of 25 at an O'Brien's show.
