$80 hot dog?
The Brockton Rox are jacking up the price of ballpark franks on Saturday to $80 in an attempt to set a world record for most expensive hot dog.
According to a team press release, the Rox hot dog is a half-pound all-beef foot-long hot dog, deep fried and rolled in truffle oil, then coated with porcini dust, sprinkled with white truffle shavings, and topped with dollops of creme fraiche, caviar and fresh roe. The dog will be served in a blini roll.
"Truffle oil" has snuck into upper middle class restaurants' menu descriptions to warrant price gouging, in recent years. Putting all that on a hot dog = smelting a turd.
