Come stave off daylight, or stave some kegs in honor of daylight savings, or stave off daylight while staving kegs for daylight stavings. Go to this and make it a success so that I can keep putting nonsensical lineups together for my own amusement.
My precognitive senses tell me that numerous returneestothepit will suddenly begin to feel on the 12th and 13th and will be calling out from their jobs.
I seriously need to think about taking a cab to & from this show. Precog visions tell me I shouldn't be driving... Its just something about Oasis I guess.

you're dumb. Alex's drumset comes in pill form. all he has to do is add water.
Haha, I was joking about that with Tom the other day at practice, I didn't want to set it up, was kind of hoping that would work but nooooooooooo I gotta play fucking human tetris

I have a great idea. We're getting there real early so that we can do a good sound check before people start, and i usually set up on the right side of the stage looking left. (all this while looking at the stage from the crowd.) And we usually have the amps sort of to my left and behind me. Which leaves plenty of room on the other side of the stage in the back for Alex to set up his drums in. So what i'm thinking is that if Alex can get there early enough to set up the same time I do, then we'll be able to have Forced set up for immediately when we get out stuff off of the stage.
I think it would be silly to NOT do this. Considering i like to play on that side, and the stage is plenty big enough to have Alex's set setup at the same time.

Word, I was actually thinking the same thing. I expect for us to arrive around 8pm provided we hit no traffic.
Would someone be cool with Forced Asphyxiation borrowing a guitar and bass cab? If so, that would allow us to get there a lot earlier so we won't have to have our bass player meet us at the practice space to help transport gear. I forgot to ask Reuben about that last night at O'Briens during rituals haha

I'd offer our guitar cab... but it's not our guitar cab. We're borrowing it from EricBoar for EricIdiot cause EI's cab is blown from the church show. Sorry.
IF we can fit our massive bass cab in the truck we will bring it for people to use. Does Nocuous have one me might be able to borrow? We have heads, and ritual compensation
Alex, while I'd love to help you guys out, we don't have a bass cab. our bassist has a shit-box combo. We're the band that borrows bass rigs. Like I said, you guys are welcome to my guitar cab though. Marshall 1960 4x12 16 ohms.

Jeeze, if we didn't bring cabs... we could go with a car less too.
But I ask you, is that fair?
(i only bring up this hypothetical problem for discussion sake, not because i want someone to feel bad, or to pick a fight. The subject came up, it reminded me of a pet peeve i've had with people not realizing how inconsiderate it is to show up at a show with no cabs and to assume that someone else will let them use theirs, and that it's not a big deal because they had to bring them anyways.... again, i'm not saying someone is doing this now.)
Of course if something happens and a bands' equipment breaks, it's reasonable to benefit from a friends work (luggin the cab) so that you can avoid having to spend tons of money on a replacement last minute.
But lets look at this HYPOTHETICAL situation from a different angle, lets say that a band HAS the cab, but doesn't have transportation.... tricky.... In this circumstance there are cheaper options than the last situation (renting a UHAUL is much cheaper than the previous solution of buying replacement gear, but is it expensive enough for you to feel that it's fair of you to put the burden of using a cab that they had to transport, and that DOES accumulate wear and tear INSTEAD of you bearing the responsibility and renting the UHAUL?
Lets look at a 3rd scenario, let's say that you have a cab, and you have the transportation, but you don't wanna move it, or you don't want to spend the extra time to move it... at this point, aren't you REALLY saying:
"hey, i know that your band needs that cab, and that it's expensive, and that it's going to be a pain in the ass for you to get it down here.... but if i had to bring my cab, then "I" would have to deal with all that BS, so can i use your cab?"
How does that last one sound? Kinda rude right? Don't get me wrong, i've totally borrowed shit from bands at shows forever, and i've come to realize that even though they're going to have the equipment with them anyways, I'm still willfully saving my own time while taking advantage of their time and effort. So what's to be done? Well, not something so different from what happened in this thread before my post. Someone was in need and asked, and offered to blaze with peeps who help em out. That's fair. Maybe you don't blaze though, buy them a couple rounds, or give them 20$ in gas money. Just make sure that you realize that it's your responsibility to have gear at your own show, and if you need to borrow it from someone, make sure you take into account that it's very inconsiderate to NOT look at it like a favor that you should reward.

Useful... you guys musta been sssoooooooooo HIGh!

Totally understandable Jimbo and while I don't take offense to your post, the main reason we are looking to borrow cabs is that there is a good chance we can't fit everything we have into Brians truck, and while we can have our bass player meet us at the practice space to help transport, there's also a good chance we wouldnt get there till about 9. So in best interest for the show as far as set up and tear down, there is a chance I wouldn't be able to set up my drums before you guys go on if we don't get there early enough, since our bass player is driving from NH.
That said tho, we are all set for a bass cab, and Reuben will certainly be receiving ritualistic compensation if we are unable to fit our cab in the truck with us.
with that said tho, we would never just show up to a show and assume someone would be cool with it. never hurts to ask in advance tho, and its definitely always a huge favor. there have been times where we simply could not fit Evan's cab in either car to head to a Scaphism show, that Suffield, CT show with Boarcorpse especially.
haha, i know you werent. but at the same time, your post made me realize that we've definitely gotten used to the idea of borrowing equipment at shows, which i intend to look at in a much different light from now on.
Last minute change of plans. Nocuous will be doing an all acoustic set. Anyone have 2 giant mariachi guitars, a stand up bass and a set of timpani we can borrow?
So, it looks like I'm not going to make it to the show. I got a ride, but their car broke down halfway there. It sucks because I took tonight off work to go to the show. We ended up walking to a nearby Chinese place to imbibe strong exotic drinks, so the night isn't all bad.

But in all seriousness, this night was fairly fucking perfect. My only regret was babying the new speakers, not allowing enough time for pounding beverages.
A huge thank you to Mike for helping me with all the club related stuff, to all the bands for being completely fucking awesome to work with, to those who helped with the edibles, and of course to everyone who showed up for the party! Lindsay was convinced that there was no way she would be able to keep this a secret from Tony but somehow we pulled it off... that's amazing in and of itself! Great night overall

"it shouldn't bother me, no. it shouldn't...no...no"
Awesome night, Carthage style. glad i was the only useful idiot-er to stay till close. nocuous blew me away. not to say everyone didn't kick ass, which they totally did, but i am a sucker for double picking melodic harmony guitars, which they totally had a warehouse full with them. many half assed apologies for those i drunk rambled to last night. it will undoubtedly happen at many future shows. thanks to everyone for coming out early for the useful idiot set, it totally means a lot every time you guys do.
useful idiot was great. Jimbo and Aaron never said bye :''(
Sorry about that... Aaron had to be home for his year old baby, he sorta pushed me out the door as soon as he could... which we knew was the plan, we only thought that he was going to have his own car so that i could've stayed... but his baby moma veto'd that idea. I am so glad we got to play this, and so glad that we had the Bday boy come on stage and sing ticks, he really did an awesome job.
**I feel a little silly, I totally let nerves get to me after the first few mistakes on stage, then let that compound into an all around mediocre performance. Thankfully my awesome band mates did SO well that it didn't ruin the show.... but i still should have done better. Oh well, I guess having a really bad night on drums is unavoidable every now and again, but i just wish it had been at a practice...
jimbo overall i think it was the best set you guys played. aaron hit the notes in Pushit, the guitars were right on and so were you. i could see small mistakes here and there but they'd be transparent to people less savvy. jenny was amazed, you guys really sound like them and saturday was no different.
oasis DOES sound mint now. nocuous is an awesome dual guitar black thrash attack. sarcomancy smelled like cheeseburgers, and their last song was SO GOOD. had to leave after that. YETI SHOT FIRST.
i'm really humbled by this whole thing, people banded together to make the night so memorable, but especially my girl and Michelle. buy them shots when you see them. that was a once in a lifetime event.
Your set was the only one that i saw, and i didn't think it was bad at all. Matter of fact, with the new PA speakers i thought that it was the clearest i'd been able to hear you guys. I think in the future, the guitar cab should be mic'd there (and better moniters for the band.)

thanks man! i know we are always our own worst critics haha. i just felt like we could have played the songs a bit tighter, i know we can
actually i didn't get nearly as drunk as i had thought i was going to. it was one of those weird occurences where you drink a lot, but due to the overwhelming night it didn't have the same impact. if i drank that on a regular night i'd be facedowninshit.
you guys sounded awesome, the new bass filled out the sound really well. i think people are so used to Oasis sounding shitty that sounding good sounds shitty on stage.

ryan is doing a great job, looking forward to playing Metal Thursday on april 21st, going to have a few new songs ready for that one we hope
me too, I'm seriously not letting people do that to me with permanent marker anymore. I honest to fuck got a "talking to" for having a smiley on my hand in the office. eghghghghhh I scrubbed like crazy, and it STILL WOULDN'T COME OFF!!
New monitors will be in soon. One of them blew when everytning else went out about two weeks back so the kustom was lhe only full speaker and the yamaha had just the horn. I might pick them up myself since sully paid out of pocket for the towers. We also need a rack EQ to tweak the highs. The horns in those towers are quite meh-ish.
Should be in pretty good shape by the Celestia show.
I thought the EQ was fried. Don't know why I am under that impression though. Will pick up some cables and do testing at some point this week if you want to come down and help me tweak the frequencies though.

I usually make clubs stamp the inside of my wrist instead of the back of my hand for just that reason. Idk, something about working at a detox and showing up with evidence of partying just doesn't fly, lol.
I recently discovered that water-proof makeup remover gets rid of the ink... Just in case you fellas care to take the tip!
But seriously, if you hate the mark, go to cvs/walgreens/whatever and buy a bottle (its always near the mascara). Costs around $3. After that all you'd need is a cottonball or tissue. Problem solved.
the only reason to live with women is if they are family or you are screwing them. otherwise...bad news. the reasons i stated are still bad news but are valid excuses.
