well.... the issue is that a lot of scientist are finding interesting old bones, some where hair and facial features that are originally compared to a caucasoid's features...
then, before the scientists are able to explorer these ideas, native american groups make claims that the bones/artifacts are their ancestors and the bones need to be returned to the earth. It gets tied up in legal bs and the bones just sit and rot in storage at the smithsonian.

fucking "native americans" have to ruin everything. hell, if it's for science and we can learn something about it, it's not doing an injustice. i think a dead "native american" wouldn't mind contributing to further educatoin about the peoples of the past...

Well, I would agree mdd, but you have to think of it from the Native Americans' point of view in addition to your own and the US Government's. The Native Americans know no science. They know philosophy and religion. Those are their science. So you can realize that they can't possibly contemplate that any good can come of the studying of one of their ancestors. They just want it to be buried for religious reasons.

I do think that it would be great to study and find out more about this humanoid, but the fact is, you really have to think about who has the right to do what in this case. I don't see anything wrong with a compromise, like we get it for a certain amount of time to study, and then we hand it over to them and they can do what ever they want with it, but, of course, there is no way in hell that anyone in our government knows what the word "compromise" means.

Of course we are going to end up not negotiating at all; this matter will stay in court until the government finally gets what they want. We will rip this piece of property from the Native Americans just as we ripped this continent from them.

i agree that a compromise is a good idea and that the government knows no such word, but it seems like the "native americans" know no such word as well... i dunno...

i don't buy into the line of thinking behind "we ripped this continent from them." yes, there is truth to that, but why can't we let the past be in the past? i mean, what would you all think if i started complaining that you ripped this land that i live on in arizona from the mexicans (which is true to some extent) if none of the past had happened the way it did, there would be no america. it's debatable that this country is really the best given current situations, but i'd rather live here then among the 90% of the population that my family came from in mexico. politics suck there between the rich and the poor, way way way worse than it ever could be here....

but i'm off topic... i just wish the native americans would stop complaining that we're ripping on what belongs to them. yes, it belongs to them as it was a person of their race, but it belongs to everyone as everyone has something to gain from the scientific knowledge these remains have. a compromise would be good, but we've gone over that. ;)

1) native american's know how to drink (right rusted angel?)
2) if an body's spirit hasn't done what it has to do in 9,000 years... time to get a new religion bub..
3) just cause bones were found in an area your "nation" now in habits doesn't mean it's a relative. look at the 2 or 3 "nations" fighting over this body.
