Nine churches have burned in Texas. The suspects have upside-down cross tattoos and long hair. Authorities aren't saying a thing. More black metal church arsons, this time in the USA?

"Their war is against all things modern, and the basic idea of modernity is that we're all equal and can do whatever we think we want to do. Even though that sounds good to most of us, black metal saw it the other way: a species growing out of control, like fast food and Wal-Mart, more than a political issue.
The root of this, they believed, came from the Christian dogma that every person was equal in the sight of God, and that richer and more competent people were not the favored ones -- "the meek" were. "

Seems like your boy Brett here is making quite the leap in positing that; A. The early Norwegian black metal shared one cohesive ideology. (Euronymous was a commie!) B. This ideology was what drove them to burn churches and it had nothing to do with cultivating public image, thrill seeking, etc. C. The aforementioned ideology, quite coincidentally, possessed the same core tenets as those espoused by the bloggers over at Amerika.org!

Yeah... I agree Marcus. The over simplifications and pigeon holing of an entire genre of music is something jerk offs do to meet their own ends...

A. Does black metal have more beliefs in common than not? Really? Then why was it controversial?

B. They spent time in jail just to promote albums? I think you're projecting here.

C. Amerika.org is not unique in espousing European Romanticism and New Right ideals. Do you need more links?

Being a jewish liberal and main contributor to 911truth.org, I feel that this must have been an inside job. The police most likely gave the suspects fake tattoos and hair extensions to make them appear "the type." This is profiling at its worst.

If it makes you feel better, this is a constructed personality and that is the intention.

The Feds are now scanning myspace for Texas 3-man black metal bands with drinking problems.

A. Theres certainly nothing controversial about saying that black metal has more beliefs in common than not. But theres a hell of a leap, imo, from "more beliefs in common than not" to some sort of contiguous organization that one can make blanket statements about (i.e. "their war" etc.) (its also important to note, again imo, that we are looking at this from the vantage point of 2010 when the ideals of black metal have become, for better or worse, MUCH more homogenous)

B. I really doubt anyone who carried out these actions planned on going to jail, a lot of these guys were teenagers at the time, I think you're assuming a lot more forethought and purpose on their part(s) than may have actually been the case.

C. Brett Stevens is a writer at Amerika.org (and i'm clearly enough of a fan to have noticed this ) hence, my reference to said site.

Well, based on the innovators and what they said back in the day: their beliefs were entirely consistent with European Romanticism.

Since then there's been a dumbing down, from Milton to LaVey, if you will.

However, at the time, all the bands were expressing similar ideas. Since we're talking about 5-7 real innovators, it's not that big of a jump:

* Emperor
* Darkthrone
* Burzum
* Enslaved
* Mayhem

They're all European New Rightish, but in the kind of anarchistic quasi-Libertarian way you'd expect from a Troy Southgate or Michael Moynihan.

It may be kind of a generational thing, that specific interpretation.

More of a thumb-over-the-dickhole, freestyle sprinker kinda way.

I'm not bother quibbling about the specifics of those bands ideals, suffice to say that "interpretation" is the key word here, and I was originally just calling the author out on what I felt was his presentation of his own interpretation of those guys motives as objective fact.
