New York-based death metal band CEREMONIUM have officially called it quits. After 11 years, two albums, numerous compilation and festival appearances the band's former members have decided to move on with other projects.

"I initially put CEREMONIUM on indefinite hiatus because of Brandon Diaz's (vocals/ guitar) physical condition," stated guitarist Thomas Pioli (ex-INCANTATION). "He said doctors told him he would be unable to sing. Now I know making excuses for our hiatus was just that, an excuse on his part. It appears Brandon will be handling some vocals and guitar in THE DYING LIGHT. As for my musical endeavors, I have been playing guitar for OBLITERATION since the summer of 2003 and recorded a demo titled 'Winter 2003 Demo' shortly before touring Brazil with INCANTATION. With OBLITERATION I have moved away from the epic approach to song writing which was applied to CEREMONIUM and focus on creating primitive and straightforward black/ death metal. Our demo is available through our website and lyrics to our songs have been posted there as well.

no wonder I could never find the post.

I used to DJ at Wetlands in NYC whenever my buddy put metal shows on there. At one show one of the Ceremonium guys gave me their cd to play. I put it on a little later and my friend the promoter comes in the DJ booth and gets on the microphone and starts saying stuff like "What'd you put this gay crap on for, Josh?" so the whole club could hear it.
A minute later someone starts banging on the door to the booth. I open it and its the guy from Ceremonium. He's all wicked pissed off, screaming at my friend, threatening to kick his ass etc etc. We tell him to lighten up and get a sense of humor and if he can't take a little criticism he should find a new hobby. Then one of the bouncers saw what was going on and came over and threw him out.

haha i really liked Ceremonium. was it tom that came up to the booth? that guys a nutcase. i got into a confrontation with him a couple years ago. it ended with him laying on the ground next to the bar and him getting kicked out. we are on good terms now though. he got kicked out of Incantation really fast haha. his new band Obliteration is good dark death metal though. good stuff.
