I am a 24 year old guitarist/vocalist looking for a bassist and drummer to play progressive death metal. Basically, I want to replace my current bassist and drummer who are unmotivated and wasting my time. I write the songs and lyrics, and I work with the other guys on adding their parts, but still leave lots of room for creativity/input from other members. I have over an album's worth of material already written.

The general sound of the music I write takes influence from all kinds of metal; from death, tech, and black metal to folk, post, doom, thrash, and stoner metal. Other genres as well, such as jazz, folk, blues and bluegrass. Lengthy songs, ranging from 10:00 to 18:00 minutes, with many changes, and different tempos and time signatures. There are parts with fast brutality, but also slower, mellow parts. Use of growling/gutteral vocals and clean vocals, heavy guitar and acoustic guitar. Emphasis on groove and tone.

EVERYONE NEEDS TO KNOW HOW TO COUNT.
Everyone needs to be skilled at their instrument. Since I want to play in a trio, each intrument will carry a lot, but this is a good thing to me.

ONE MAIN REASON I WANT TO PLAY IN A TRIO IS TO BRING OUT THE BASS. Too many bands have poor or inaudible bass/bass players, and that pisses me off.

I live in Kentucky and I am looking to relocate to a larger city, (I'm posting ads like this in various place to see what kind of interest I can find). If there is serious interest, we can send recordings, and if it sounds good, I will travel to come jam with you and if things go well, I'm willing to move.

Some bands that have influence me: (no specific order)
Opeth, Death, Immortal, Enslaved, Nile, Pink Floyd, Morbid Angel, Metallica, Meshuggah, Rush, Necrophagist, Cathedral, Nick Drake, Preston Reed, Rumpke Mountain Boys, The Moody Blues, The Derek Trucks Band, Cephalic Carnage, Decapitated, Nachtmystium, Tool

I don't think it sounds awkward. It sounds like a metal band. When I talk about jazz and blues, it ifluences me in the sense of scales, mode usage and chords. I'm not trying to play a jazz riff followed by a black metal riff or anything.

Thanks for good luck. Or was that a joke too? haha

Sounds cool to me but then again I like anything. Hehe. I'd join but i don't play bass or drums. Seriously though hope you find some willing participants. Love to hear some blues mixed into death metal!
