so i put a deposit down on a trace elliot v type 300h, thats the 280 watt tube preamp/solidstate hybrid, anyone have any experience with these?
i have like a whole month to decide whether i want to buy it or not thanks to the new pawn laws, I like the way it sounds but ive heard they break easily, anyway its mad cheap like 250 anyone have advice? anecdotes? rich bova content?

If they break easily I can help you get to the bottom of it. You'll find it trickier to repair cause of the tube pre, and solidstate power amps are like meh. I prefer to have at least a tube power, I like the final touch on the sound to be warm, even if the pre is crispy.

Put them shits in a nice head case and you should be good.

Like a nice road case type thing, and occassionally do some clean / dusting / inspection with a multimeter.
