New site? Maybe some day.

Apparantly, Jupiter is really close to us right now (well, compared to where it usually is). So I broke out the telescope and found it. What the was a little shiny dot to the naked eye, with the telescope and the most powerful lens it came with was a little shiny dot that appeared to be enlarged by about .3 nanometers. But, as always, the Moon was really fun to look at. I am sorry I wasted all of your time. |

Yeah, so I just read an article ( http://www.gulf-news.com/Articles/news.asp?ArticleID=113220 ) about this, and I guess what I was looking at wasn't Jupiter. It says that even with a small telescope you can see the separate bands of gas that make up its atmosphere. Also, it says it appears as a quarter, which the thing I looked at didn't. I will try again tomorrow night.

hmmm i know who wants a telescope =)
let us know what you see tomorrow night! |
actually, if I get the condo... I want to get a telescope and snap celestial pictures from my deck... |

You guys are using telescopes for the wrong reasons. |
telescope=stars
binoculars=spying on people |
Tell that to Jimmy Stewart. |
Damn, today's overcast as hell. The sky is completely covered with nimbostratus clouds as far as the eye can see. Don't think I am gonna have any luck tonight. I will try anyway though. |
It has cleared up, so I am gonna try at 9. |
Dude, I used to look at shit with my telescope. I've seen Jupiter, Saturn and the moon. I should start doing that again. Fun stuff. |
look at the sun and burn your eye out. |
Yeah, I love it. It's so fucking mystical, you know? I don't know, I guess it kind of makes me completely forget about my own planet. |
Damn it, I just checked and it is still too cloudy. |
I need to get a bigger telescope. The wider the better. it takes in more light. |
