I bought a new motherboard and RAM to replace in the previous computer that I made which never really worked. So I hook it up, nothing. Rehook it up. nothing. move shit around. nothing. Finally, I take out the RAM and put in 1 old stick and I get it to boot. put in a second old stick, nothing.

get it into windows on 1GB. start installing new drivers. then windows says fuck you and decided to stop booting. this is gay. GAY. GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY.

It's almost cheaper to buy a computer these days then build on yourself.

on black friday, I ordered that dell xps420 and ended up paying 500 bucks. intel quad core, 3 gigs of ram, 320 gb HD, 3450 HD video card, sideshow display, dvd burner, and 2 year warranty, etc.

the inspirons are like 250 bucks now with 2 gigs of ram and intel dual core. the processor alone would probably cost a third of that.

It's probably running at 667Mhz because of the ratio or divider it's set to. You wanna be running at 1:1 ratio and it's most likely on something like 5:4 since DDR2-800 is asynchronous with that bus speed. If you put it to 1:1 it'll lower the speed down to 533Mhz and make full use of the bus (theoretically)

also, it might make sense if you had some stability problems before
