Ever read Terry Goodkind? The Sword of Truth series?

There's a cheesy made for TV version called 'Legend of the Seeker' on ABC or CBS usually on pretty late. It's amusing if you're into that series.

But yeah, Sword in the Stone is awesome.

I read most of those, I think I missed the last one, I don't care to catch a cheesy show based off of it if it will ruin how I remember the books haha... just got into reading the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan and I can see myself plowing through those books...

but yeah The Sword In The Stone is a great movie, I remember it clearly even though I probably haven't seen it in 15+ years

Wheel of Time is stellar. That's being made into an HBO series supposedly. (check IMDB for the Eye of the World)

I've actually been meaning to get more into the Sword of Truth series. I have the first one I believe and didn't get into it yet.
I was thinking about checking out some of the Dragonlance books but I'm not sure yet.

Most of the Dragonlance and Forgotten Realmz series are garbage...

The Twins and Icewind Dale series are okay though...

Get into George RR Martin if you're looking for something to read. A Song of Ice and Fire is probably in my top 3 fantasy series ever.

For DL: You need to read the Dragonlance Chronicles trilogy, and not much else. If it's by Weis and Hickman, you're pretty safe - but they've done a few stinkers, and a couple of other authors have added some good stuff. (Jim, I have these if you're interested.)

For FR: Early R. A. Salvatore is ok if you like reading a lot of descriptions of swordplay with brief outbreaks of plot. The Icewind Dale trilogy and the Dark Elf trilogy are good. Later on it gets pretty hacky. Anything Ed Greenwood has done is good in my book. Spellfire in particular. Besides that, it's a pretty mixed bag.

I might have to put the Black Cauldron over Sword in the Stone, although it's a near thing.

When I was a younger lad I was into some of the Dragonlance stuff, The Legend of Huma/Kaz the Minotaur and the Companions series were damn good but I'm not sure they would hold up well if I read them today, considering all the classic literature and the "thicker" sci-fi/fantasy books I've read since then..

While we're on the subject, I have an amazing PDF file of the entire Wheel of Time series, with extra commentary and every chapter of every book tiered and bookmarked, with maps, glossary and all. I found it as a torrent but it only comes out to 25 MB if anyone wants it. Makes for great reading at work while everyone thinks I'm working.

it amazes me that you

a.) remember what grade you read books in
b.) remember what books you read
c.) made no comment on how awesome the movie is

I watched this movie so many times. The owl Archimedes was a little bastard. Almost named my pet after him.

I watched this movie a bunch of times as a kid but I'll be damned if I can remember anything about it.
