New site? Maybe some day.

I mean, come on now: 1968 was long ago.
The Baby Boomers are good Obama-liberals, and now you're imitating... your parents?
Their "ideas" took root and our society still has problems. In fact, things are worse in most cases.
Why are you repeating this arcane, hidebound, ancient, tedious dogma? |
|
don't you feel tired and old for repeating whatever bullshit you find on another message board? |

On what message board did I find this?
Even more, bypassing your ad hom, what's your answer?
Do you not have one? (That should be a clue to you to re-analyze your thinking, don't you think?) |

I have to take issue with the idea that the boomers' ideals (from the 1960s) actually took hold. This was a generation which espoused the tenets of justice and equality, then threw them out the window in the 1980s as soon as they saw how much money they could make. The boomers violated the ideals for a fistful of silver, and few of those ideals ever became truth.
I also disagree with your assertion that such ideals are arcane, ancient, or tedious ("hidebound" depends upon your connotation). The concept of justice and equality for all human beings, no matter their station, is indeed a radically new idea. It was put forward by various religious and political thinkers throughout the millenia, but it wasn't until the very recent past that such ideas became common throughout the body politic. And tedious? What could possibly be tedious about brotherhood? |
|
not remotely. i like giving you a hard time because i think you're completely fuckin retarded and misguided. your OP doesn't even make any sense, it's just a string of 4 pseudo-sentences that don't really convey any concrete message.
and i still believe you saw someone post that somewhere so you posted it here as your own opinion |
|
as opposed to what? repeating the arcane, hidebound, ancient, & tedious dogma of every other generation since the dawn of time? not very well thought out... |
|
As opposed to finding a realistic solution.
The 1968-dogma of current liberalism is just wearing old. It doesn't work, it has been proven not to work, and still people repeat it.
Is it just to be trendy?
Because they end up looking like DINOSAURS.
Repetitive, unrealistic, self-obsessed dinosaurs ;) |

I need to get a life. I spend hours a day on this message board spewing loads of B.S. to people who disagree with 99% of what I have to say.
I spend my Saturday nights on the return to the pit forum. Yay for me. |

"Original" isn't the question.
"Accurate" is.
Repeating failed beliefs: WHY? |

I bet that line works on insecure people.
"Oh no, if I'm not out doing something others agree is important, I'm NOBODY!!1!1"
Besides, it's 5:30 here. ;) |

My point in saying that is that no one is coming with new fresh ideas and the people that are are being suppressed. Obama's toting change as his contribution to the table. I doubt he even knows how little he'll do in office if elected. Same for McCain. (Nevermind the fact that he's CONSERVATIVE.) We need a man like Henry Clay to be resurrected and run for President and WIN.
"I'd rather be right that be President."
We're just going to get more of the same ol' same ol' for the next four years. We need someone who's going to turn on the establishment and look at the US as a country of PEOPLE. Right now we're just slaves to the government's whims. |
|
I agree, to some degree.
However, I think we need to see that liberalism as a whole is a dysfunctional trend. It's "opposition that isn't opposition" and empowerment for parasites.
I think if we look at this country as PEOPLE, we should look only at the smart non-leechy ones. |
|
Lol. Yeah. Stupid people are the scourge of this nation. And they make up the majority of it. Liberalism needs to go away. Conservatism needs to go. We need some brutality up in this joint. |

There are too many idiots, and certain segments of gov't want to cultivate them... O_o |

I'm dyslexic. Send me money. ;) |

your an idiot if you think that "certain" applies here
your distaste for liberalism and their sheepish qualities is undermined again and again by your application of conservative rhetoric that you seem to think would be more effective, in the same way that you think liberals have been hoodwinked (whether or not they have is irrelevant) into believing their version of right, so have you
the "system" (how our government functions within the socio-economic world) is far beyond comprehension by the average joe, and the attempt to understand it, and identifying with what someone else who seems to know more about it or a have greater authority on the subject than you or I, is the only functional solution, it isn't ideal, but it is inevitable and unchanging, there is no solution to this problem you spout on about (on a message board no less...), get the fuck over it |

Here we agree. But the question becomes then: what is a better system?
I also would add this caveat:
The system isn't solely to blame. You need to look at the people who make up a nation.
If people here don't give a shit, why the heavy Obama and liberal propaganda daily?
Obviously they do care, and in my experience, when people offer out stuff as tentatively as it has been tossed around here, they're looking for solutions they haven't yet found. |

Uh, I think you need to pay more attention, you're starting 99% of the political threads around this place! |

TODAY and YESTERDAY, maybe
The three months before that? |

I dont think the system is to blame so much, it's the nature of such a thing to get more and more complex over time as situations change, population grows, and the world economy fluctuates, in truth (I hate to sound like some kind of a naive anarchist here, because I am not) the system has grown too big for its britches and things need to be reevaluated (not necessarily revolutionized) by all parties,
the people who make up the nation are definitely to blame (government is made of people too), but there are a very small number of people out there with the means (both social and biological) to comprehend the system, idiots are abound (the most terrifying thing about idiots, by the by, is that they don’t know they are idiots), those who have hereditary advantages (wealth) are the ones in control of the government, and they act in their self interest first, as is human nature, before worrying about those who might be better suited to comprehend the system but don't have the means to attain the status required to do anything about anything
and people DO give a shit, if anything that was my whole point in that quote, people WANT to comprehend, that's why those liberal hippy scum are so common, because they hear "Obama is the savior of our nation" and they want to believe it, and maybe they heard it from someone they respect, they have reason enough for them to believe it, much like the idiots who circulate email propaganda about how many scandals Obama has been "involved" in, or people who think that Obama isn't a citizen because they heard that some guy on a conservative talk show hasn't seen his birth certificate, or dental records, or credit card statement... it's all a means towards an ends, such is the way of politics, get the people motivated by whatever means necessary to vote for your candidate and against the other by enhancing their flaws
the people that matter in elections are the people who "go with their gut" without any rationalization, calling Obama a non-american liberal elitist is going to make the person working the register at Walmart want to vote for McCain "American Hero", and Palin a not horrible looking family woman who will be progressive (she's a woman), but not too much, IF they even put that much thought into which lever they switch in the polling booth
it’s a popularity contest, quantity over quality
