I'm taking a road trip to Philly this weekend. Can anybody recommend some worthwhile shit to do there? We already plan on hitting up the Mutter Museum.

Yes. Philly is a cool town. Check out the MetalBlade store. Get the cheesesteaks at the famous places in Philly (there's a bunch of them) and MAKE SURE you get it with CheezWiz instead of regular cheese.
Run on the steps that Rocky ran on.
But, most importantly, wear everything you have that represent the Boston sports teams, because they hate everything up here. Piss on some Phillies fans, and make sure you rub it in that the Eagles suck and Ryan Howard is a juicer.

I heard the Relapse store closed. I don't want this to be a repeat of when I walked around Times Square for an hour looking for the WWF restaurant.

you can go see the liberty bell and then go "yep.....there it is". Most exciting 3 seconds of your life.

Personally i think Philly sucks balls, but maybe its because im here everyday!

And yes. Relapse is closed now, but there are a few cool record shops along South St. Which is about the coolest thing to do in Philly probably, unless there is a cool show going on.

Philly does suck, actually. I was just there a few weeks ago. The train system is by far the most fucked up, repugnant shit I have ever seen.

anyhow...philly has a lot of history..so if you are into old stuff ...and seeing museums and the like there are a lot...liek the civil war museum...i think it's so cool how one block can be SO differentfrom the next when walking around.i know you like to take photos..i think you'll enjoy even just walking around and seeing just how old some buildings and homes are.

- I don't drink, but if it's a chill bar I'll hang out and buy my friends drinks.
- Girls are gross. Give me the embrace of an overweight Mario Batali looking guy who'll whisk me away in his 1994 Econoliner rapist van anyday.
- Carina, please recommend some of those Azn / vegetarian places if you'd be so kind. While I plan to stuff myself stupid with cheesesteaks interesting cuisine is where it's at.
- Eastern State Penn sounds like an awesome idea. I've wanted to go there for a while actually and completely forgot about it. I'll be going with 2 of my roommates who are big fans of smoking up and watching Lockup on MSNBC. Maybe I can get them to shit themselves.
- Sapremia, I'd def like to know some of those shops if you can think of some.
- I actually stayed over night once in South Philly. It was sketch to the max. It's a long story but I ended up at a sub shop the next day with these two black girls screaming "WHY CAN'T I GET NO MUFUCKIN EGGGGGG SAMMICH?!!"
- If there was a metal blade store I'd go in there and buy something just so I could tell Chris Barnes (who I imagine would work there) to quit fucking around and gift wrap my Bolt Thrower cd.

Go to Gino's steaks or whatever it's called. It's a city landmark.

haha I just remembered the first time NooseBomb went to Philly. We stayed in West Philly at some broad's house. She warned us that it was a really bad neighborhood. I didn't think it was too bad at the time, though. As we were pulling out into the street to leave the next morning, I had said to Johnny H "Philly's not nearly as bad as everyone said." Just as I barely finished that sentence, we both see a 12 year old kid walking down the street aiming a handgun at us as we drive by. We both just start laughing and wave and smile at the kid.

hahahha I wish I could say I made that story up or exaggerated in any way, shape, or form. We don't have that luxury.



Christ, this forum is so full of WIN this morning.

Oh ya so... Philly was awesome. Streets are easier to navigate. People are considerably more relaxed. The Mutter museum was smaller than I expected, but definitely worth the price of admission. There was a lot of cool photography there if the sight of medical deformities alone isn't enough for you. We hit up the Adventure Aquarium in Camden NJ too, which had a lot of cool displays (way too many little kids running around stepping on me thought)

Eastern State Penn was the highlight of the trip (sight seeing wise) for me. I might post some pictures from there. It's almost hard to take a bad photo there with all the dilapidated shit, and light coming in from weird angles. And Steve Buscemi narrated the audio tour.

Other highlights included a "heart attack with" cheesesteak at Ginos (delicious but felt like lead in my stomach 10 minutes later, and lead to eye watering dumps for the next 2 days... but I'd eat it again), finding an original copy of Subzero "Happiness without Peace" at a record store, Tattooed Moms actually being really fun, some guy that said he was in Wu Tang Clan selling us some cd that turned out to be terrible, amazing architecture everywhere I went.

Wow, i will add you to the short list of people that like Philly. nest part of it for you is that you get to leave! Aquarium, Eastern St, and Mutter is all good stuff. Jim's Steaks on South St blows Geno's away, shoulda went there, but not the worst thing you could have done. Tattoo Moms is cool, and reading this now, i realized you were asking me for some records stores. Apparently, you found at least one! Glad you enjoyed the shitty...um, city in which i live and breathe every day.
