Sometime over the next week or two I am taking my son up to story land. Do you know any decent hotels, inns, or motels with decent rates that have a fridge and microwave in the room?

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at Jun 17,2008 6:04pm
There's plenty up in the lakes region. DO NOT try this week though -- it's Bike Week in Laconia and the place is a zoo. You will not find a room. All the retards go home on Sunday though.

HAHA I went to fucking Storyland.

Its a long ride. Glen NH.
We took the Kangamangus.

We took our 1st spawn there when she was 2.
I was BORED as fuck.
It sucked balls.
Spawn had fun for a few hours before I ordered everyone back in the fucking car to go home.
Was REAL lame.
I wasnt staying at a hotel, so I cant help you there.

Dont go.
Go to Canobie instead. Not worth the ride, IMO.

this one is really inexpensive too, but maybe less rustic looking/feeling.

the berlin motor inn is the only place you need to stay

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 17,2008 7:10pm
Berlin is nowhere near Glen.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Jun 17,2008 8:29pm
oohhhh wait...there's a place close by storyland that aaron and i stayed in..we drove by it and saw their inground pool...hang on...

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Jun 17,2008 8:37pm
ok i realized you said you're taking your kids...you don't need anything romantic...so i won't list any of those places...but this place is fun and has a water slide (and isn't expensive)

check out the latest review:
Jun 9, 2008

We stayed at the Hampton Inn while visiting Storyland. We were very happy with the cleanliness of the rooms. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The free breakfast was satisfying - more than a basic continental breakfast. The indoor water park was a nice diversion - especially with the area scaled for smaller children.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Jun 17,2008 8:50pm
ok i looked and i guess it's a little more than it was 6 months ago...not sure what your budget is...but aaron and i have stayed in north conway quite a few times..we really like the area...and it's close by..i recommend going to expedia, entering in your travel dates and sorting the results from lowest to highest price and then go to tripadvisor and check out the reviews.
additionally...www.kayak.com
they check prices on ALL the various travel sites...so you can make sure you're getting the lowest price at whatever hotel you choose.
let me know if you need more help.

there's not much for little kids too do there... believe me, well you got the kiddie land, then the canoes, and the airplanes i think thats it. if they're 36" you can take them on the flume, but i don't think canobie is worth the $29 price tag, but if the kids are under 2 they get in for free...

story land and santa's village would be a good trip.
maybe even take them to the clarks trading post.

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Jun 17,2008 9:23pm
Thanks for the heads up Carina! I dig the idea of that indoor water park. I am always trying to find a way to beat the heat so that indoor water park sounds awesome. We will ry to find a place either later on tonight or tomorrow. I hope that place is in my budget. I am trying to convince her to stop off at water country on the way home and take advantage of our seasons passes.

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Jun 17,2008 9:25pm
We are also hiting up some waterfall shit in the area too.

agreed. I used to love those three places when I was little... The Polar Caves is another fucking sweet stop

ok so I am heading off now. I'll let you guys know how it was, or is if I have connection!!! Thanks for all the suggestions!

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 24,2008 8:00am
And it is at this point, whilst Josh is STILL driving, he realizes just how long that drive really is.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 24,2008 8:49am
it's not "that" long of a drive. I forget where he's coming from, but 3 hours should be enough time to get to the flume...

new bedford to NH is a decent drive.

shoulda went to santa's village.

The bikers went home on Sunday -- you will just be fighting the normal tourist crowd.

as I told the Rev, NH has sucked since the Old Man in the Mountain fell.

toggletoggle post by largefreakatzero at Jun 24,2008 9:15am

Southern NH = glorified MA. Actually the coast is pretty nice, but I think we should just chop off Nashua and give it to you guys as a gift. We'll keep Manchester though -- I find its shittiness almost intriguing.

toggletoggle post by aril at Jun 24,2008 9:37am
Nashua's in NH? WHAT?
Manchester has its parts - but then again, it's not the best thing ever. Concord and Keene are kind of nice.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 24,2008 4:48pm
I lived in Concord for 12 years.
It sucks balls.
Want something to do? Ever?
Dont move to Concord.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 24,2008 4:49pm
That said, everything in the immediate Concord vicinity, is absolutely beautiful.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 24,2008 4:51pm
There are some nice spots in Southern NH. Jaffery is nice, and out towards Auburn/Antrim too.

OK so I stood at the Golden Gables Inn. Nice place, pool and hot tube over looking Mt. Washington, the Conway train passes right in back so the kids can check that out. If you got little ones these is a nice outdoor playground and shit. Most importantly, the place was CLEAN.

So story land kicked ass. My 15 month old son went on the flume and loved it. The flume was a world faster than the roller coaster they have there yet they would not let him on the coaster. Oh well. There was some musical shit going on, and a circus and my son was dancing and smiling away. That was enough to make me content with the whole trip. He was so happy the whole time we were there.

We also went by diana's bath. Water was cold as fuck. still had a nice picnic and a good time though. Especially when I fell into the water and ended up with one of the waterfalls pouring down on me.

The muddy moose resturaunt has some kick ass BBQ sauce. Made for some great burgers.

Missed the sunrise, but got some cool pics of it setting on Mt Washington. I also went to the top of some high ass mountain you can drive up and went to some fenced in viewing area where people were rock climbing. What a huge fucking cliff that shit was!

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 27,2008 12:02pm
that's where we saw the sunrise!

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Jun 27,2008 12:09pm
now that I think of it, that would make a killer spot to see a sunrise! Our baby was still sleeping at that time and we didn't want to wake him. We just waited for him to wake on his own at 8-9 and start our day instead of waking him early and making him cranky.

toggletoggle post by succubus  at Jun 27,2008 12:10pm
yup yup that's where we stayed!! lol it was nice and not expensive! I wanted to give you the name of that palce and i couldn't remember it! lol glad you guys had fun!

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Jun 27,2008 12:16pm
Yeah it was awesome. $100 a night was not bad compared to some places in the area thats for sure. Prices are a dramatic change from the places I was at in PA a few months ago. 35-45 a night for a nice place. Motel 6 was 44 a night for a twin bed room for example. Oh well, NH was far superior to state college PA haha. I want to move there so damn bad.

New Englanders don't let Massholes drive. Period.

toggletoggle post by Hoser at Jun 27,2008 3:19pm
It's tourist season again and the Masswipes are bombing our roads with their rude attitudes and shitty driving habits. We are inundated with Massholes.

oh shush sweet cheeks, I drive just fine!

Worst Drivers In New England:
RI>CT>MA>VT>NH>ME

Rhode Island Drivers are horrible.

toggletoggle post by Joshtruction   at Jun 27,2008 3:48pm
so according to that logic the further south you go the worst the drivers get? Interesting.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 27,2008 4:55pm
it's true.
