New site? Maybe some day.
Now I know everyone is all about the DS,
but I got an Advance instead.
There are a number of games I would like to play for this. Most of them RPGs/tactical RPGs.
I was wondering if anyone has them (is willing to give/sell/trade) or if they're worth getting:
Fire Emblem
Fire Emblem - Sacred Stones
Shining Force remake (doesn't look as good)
FFVI remake
FFT Advance (briefly played, wasn't as good as the PS one)
Breathe of Fire - (!EXPLODE!)
Any others? |
You can shoot me for not putting the video game tag. |
Try Golden Sun 1 and 2. God those are SUCH good games. The FFVI remake isn't a remake. It's just FFVI on a gameboy advance.
There was a Breath of Fire for GBA? Is it good or is it just 1 or 2 on GBA? |
I've heard great stuff about those Golden Sun games. I'll take a look.
FFVI on GBA is even better. Not a huge fans of remakes. Nothing can touch the original.
Yep, there's a Breath of Fire on GBA. Don't know too much about it. might be a remake, might be just a rerelease. I saw it on ebay. |
I loved Breath of Fire 1 and 2. I hated 3... I think it was 3. Whichever one was for PS2 was CRAP. I couldn't play past the first hour or so. It just didn't have that same feel. |
Breath of Fire for GBA is just Breath of Fire just on GBA. Still an amazing game. |
i have mixed feelings about ff6 advance, only because the lich ring doesn't work and thats bullshit!
anyone else beat the dragon's den? fun times |
i'm really hoping these fire emblem games live up to their hype.
i know they have some for other systems but I've heard people say the original GBA one is the best one. Supposed to be the best GBA game too. |
Best GBA game is easily the joint Golden Sun games. I kid you not. While at times they seem very kiddish, they're very entertaining and the story is really cool. It's really hard to turn the game off and even more so when you get the second game.
I wish they put Chrono Trigger on GBA. Then I wouldn't have to emulate it at home. |
Chronotrigger GBA would be great. I haven't played that game in a couple of years. I used to play it every other year and try to do all the endings.
So the Lich Ring doesn't work?
I hope the Genji Glove works. please tell me |
Genji Glove works. I never used the Lich Ring in the original so I don't even know what it does. |
I remember hearing about some game called "Advance Wars" or something. It was a tactical game that takes place in the future. I think it may have be one of the 1st GBA games. Anyone know anything about that? |
I've heard about it and my friends have really liked it. I'm not a fan of tactical games at all so I wouldn't really know what makes a good or bad tactical game. |
Genji Glove works. I never used the Lich Ring in the original so I don't even know what it does. |
yeah genji gloves + master scroll will turn any shitty character into an amazing one.
lich ring turns that character into a zombie. i never really used it, but one day i wanted to see what would happen if you equip a blood sword on a zombie. zombies have no health so in theory the attack should be valued for the characters total hp.
but it didn't matter because in advanced(or at least mine) the lich ring doesn't work. |
i want to test this, because it is also possible that because your a zombie the strike will be healing one, just set as 0, doing nothing. |
currently playing Fire Emblem 1. Game is awesome so far. Not a huge fan of how once a character dies in battle, you can't use them again. Oh well, more challenging that way. Found out the hard way.
I love how EB Games has a bunch of used GBA games now that DS is popular. It's funny how all the RPGs are like 18 bucks though and the rest of the games are like 9 bucks. |
Advance Wars is a really fun game if you're into turn based strategy type shit. I dug it.
I really want a GBA because it's backwards compatible with all older Gameboy and Gameboy Color games, which I don't think the DS is. Do you have the one with the flip-up screen or the one that's laid out more like a GameGear? |
The DS is backwards compatible. There's a little slot for Gameboy games. I'm not really sure how it works with pre-GBA games but I'm sure that's easily find-out-able.
Anyway, I'm playing Riviera right now. It's a pretty sweet non-linear RPG with a ton of Norse influence. |
It's only backwards compatible with GBA games, nothing before that. Not cool, there are a ton of great GB and GBC games out there. |
I'm enjoying FFIV Advance. One of my favorite FF games.
How about non-RPG games - any good action / adventure titles? I'm automatically a little wary of anything that's also on a real console - I can't help but think I'm gonna get a warmed-over license cash-in. |
I have one that's set up like the GameGear was.
There's just so many awesome titles for GBA - can't wait to play a lot of them. |
I love how the GBA is compatible with GB and GBC games. DestroyYouAlot is borrowing my Zelda : Link's Awakening game. BEST.Zelda.Ever (imo) |
Advance Wars is a pretty sweet tactical war game. Its like Panzer General but simpler and with more action. |
There's 2 Advance Wars games. I want to try them both. EBGames has them for like 8 bucks.
The Metroids are supposed to be awesome for GBA, as well as the Castlevania game (Aria something). It was the last GBA game released I think.
THERE ARE GBA METROIDS?!?!?!>?111122?234RISDF
MUST... HAVE... |
That Castlevania game sounds like something I'd be into as well. |
I can't believe how good Fire Emblem is. Wish I got this game back in 2003 when it came out.
SRSLY? Who needs Xbox360 when GBA awesome games? |
Super hooked on Metroid: Zero Mission. It's just the NES Metroid, remade with a ton of new stuff. AWESOME. |
beat fire emblem last week and it was awesome.
now on the sequel, again awesome.
someone sell me their damn games. i'm eating these up like butter |
martins: thanks for telling me to get Golden Sun. It's awesome.. definitely liked it a lot. I wouldn't say it's my favorite RPG of all time but it's highly entertaining. the class and djinn system can get confusing at times. I want to play the 2nd one but I'm not sure if I should play another game first before I move onto it |
beat golden sun 1&2 and Final Fantasy Tactics for GBA. now i'm playing Tales of Phantasia. anyone ever play this game before? |
Tales of phantasia is realy good.Played a translated version on Zsnes, the gba version is slightly different, graphics, names are changed somewhat but a great rpg |
THIS BE A MOAR CULT THRED |
Fire Emblem games, Andy. If you like ShiningForce, PLAY FIRE EMBLEM OR GTFO |
I no long have my GBA...I beat shining for on my original genesis like a year ago. |
Hope you advanced Arthur up. Knight is weak as hell when you get him but if you're patient he gets spells and shit. Underrated knight in that game.
No one compares to Zylo... |
DestroyYouAlot is borrowing my Zelda : Link's Awakening game. BEST.Zelda.Ever (imo) |
I love how this nigga had this game for nearly 3 years and couldn't figure out how to get inside the Bottle Grotto. EPIC FAIL ON DYAS PART |
Lamp doesn't read this board as much as he used to. |

no longER** and....forCE** wtf is wrong with my phone? |
The Incognito only functions as well as the hand that wields it. Also, I'm pretty sure you can get Chrono Trigger for the DS, which would be my main reason for getting a DS. |
pokemon and castlevania . . . on a side note...DS is a very kvlt gaming system ...must rebuy for train purposes. the japanese cutesy games are faggot though. |
the japanese cutesy games give me a rock hard stiffy though. |
