There are sooo many killer new bands coming out that are following in the footsteps of the thrash legends of old! All these bands have myspace pages and should definately be checked out:

Violator
Evile
Merciless Death
Municipal Waste (had to include them eventhough everyone knows them)
Tyrant
Bonded By Blood
Fueled by Fire
Prosecutor (from poland no less!)

anyone got bands to add?

Nocturnal Breed and Swordmaster were some of my fave retro-trash bands.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Sep 21,2007 8:10pm
Bonded By Blood is not that great. Pretty run-of-the-mill.

I want to see someone bring back Goatlord ala "Reflections of the Solstice" with the synthesized toms and over the top satanic lyrics.

The Newbie's in Nashua has a couple of Goatlord CDs, also on vinyl as well, which I picked up.

it's fun, but i'd rather see brutal thrash make a comeback. and i bet my saying this comes as a huge surprise.

I purchased the 2 goatlord releases Newbury Comics have to offer on CD, although I really want to pick up Reflections of The Solstice on LP. Alex Spina of Bestial Onslaught (a friend of mine) released a Goatlord/Nunslaughter split 7" which I've yet to pick up. He's local, check out his distro.

brutal thrash like Vulcano?

toggletoggle post by mortalis  at Sep 21,2007 8:28pm
i've never actually gotten around to checking them out, but i've heard them compared to sepultura, so yeah, like that. beneath the remains, epidemic of violence, the ten commandments, that kind of thrash.

toggletoggle post by vein_water   at Sep 21,2007 8:32pm
hmmm I'd compare them more to sarcofago, early bathory, and some of the german stuff. But one person hears music a wee different than another. Beneath The Remains is great. Ten Commandments as in the Malevolent Creation release with the same title?

toggletoggle post by mortalis  at Sep 21,2007 8:35pm
morbid visions era sepultura, maybe? definitely dirtier than beneath the remains. and yeah, that's the right ten commandments. the aggressive, brutal, but tight thrash is my cup o tea. which is why i'm psyched for the new solstice stuff that's supposed to be coming out soon.

toggletoggle post by vein_water   at Sep 21,2007 8:44pm
Beneath The Remains was a great early death metal release. Before Roadrunner redefined peoples perception of death metal in my opinon with bands like Suffocation and Gorguts who just did the chug chug thing too much.

Speaking of Suffocation, I am a big fan of Malevolent Creations "Eternal" which featured the same great drummer as on Suffocations "Despise the sun" which sucked.

The track "they breed" always cracks me up because of how they don't be around the bush with the whole hate blacks thing.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Sep 21,2007 8:56pm
How do you figure that's a black hating reference? I just read the lyrics and I don't see that.

toggletoggle post by mortalis  at Sep 21,2007 8:56pm
yeah, dave culross is pretty fucking amazing. but i've got to disagree with you on suffocation, they're in my pantheon of bands. dave probably got a lot of shit from the guys in malevolent after playing in a band with a black guitarist and a black former drummer, hah.

toggletoggle post by mortalis  at Sep 21,2007 8:57pm
he screams YOU FUCKING NIGGERS at the end of the song. obviously not a master of subtlety.

toggletoggle post by ConquerTheBaphomet  at Sep 21,2007 8:58pm
I JUST finished listening to that song and heard that.

Nevermind my previous post.

Biggest fail on the internet

I'm not into the "Brutal" death metal. My favorite death metal bands are Carnage, Impaled (Dead Shall Dead Remain exclusively), old Amorphis. I am really into Autopsy though, some people might call them a brutal band.

like I said its my opinion of what happened.

There's no opinion when it comes to stfucation

toggletoggle post by mortalis  at Sep 21,2007 9:03pm
i like how everyone just skips over injected sufferage when talking about malevolent's bigotry. some pretty blatant gay hating going on there.

This started as a discussion regarding the new thrash revival = new young bands performing new originals influenced by the masters. I am loving the feel and enthusiasm of a lot of these bands and it brings back memories of the glory days. Some I'd recommend Warbringer (the best and most promising one in my opinion), Avenger of Blood, Devastator, Hatchet, Dekapitator, Hyades, Reanimator, and Strikemaster to name a few worth looking into.
