The Associated Press reports that the band manager whose pyrotechnics ignited a nightclub fire that killed 100 people is granted parole. The parole board says Daniel Biechele will be released in March after serving less than half of his four-year sentence.
Board chairwoman Lisa Holley says yesterday's decision was unanimous. Biechele pleaded guilty last year to 100 counts of involuntary manslaughter for the 2003 fire in West Warwick. He was working for the rock band GREAT WHITE when he ignited the blaze.
Holley says the board considered things such as risk of reoffending, plans for life after prison and letters received from victims' families. Some relatives of those killed say they think Biechele deserves to get out early, while others are unhappy with the decision.
Attorney General Patrick Lynch says he disagrees with the parole board, but respects the decision. |

It's a waste to have him in prison, there's way more shitty people who should be there instead. Involuntary manslaughter is gay. |

I'm glad there were people who survived the tragedy.. the aftermath, especially with the legal stuff, was such a cluster fuck. |
|
a close friend of mine died in that fire. i don't know what to think about the guy being released from prison. the whole process of blaming people and the legal proceedings that went on after the fire were so crazy that i don't really know who was at fault to what degree. the guy's getting out of prison but that doesn't mean he's free. it's going to continue to haunt his life. i think no matter what happens, the guy is serving a life sentence in that way and it's going to be a hard road for him.
|
|
i didnt even know this guy went to jail, the story just died off after a while, sucks for him, does anyone know if the clubowners did time, granted i don't know much about this but it doesnt seem right that manager of the band got locked up? |
|
I died in that fire. It's true. Yet, like the phoenix I have come forth from the ashes. |

Man, this news didn't die for shit.
I saw that dude all over the news all the time, every fucking day in Rhode Island it's a new thing. At least they're not playing that crappy music while showing the faces of all the people who died but pick up a Projo, mofo. It's in there, trust me. |
|
and besides... hoser o'reilly's got you beat for the next week of dickheadedness FROM a two-day-old post |
|
I met that dude, when GW played in Manchvegas. What a cocksucker. I think he should be put in a building, along with the rest of GW's crew who were responsible , and set on fire themselves .Or left to rot in jail. |

The RI scene is pretty much dead since all the places that can't afford a $30,000 sprinkler system have been shut down.

grim
... the other grim |

I still have the ad from the Phoenix for this show in my wallet - I cut it out to laugh at it before the show happened, and then it got WAY funnier. |
|
yeah, putting pyro in a small club, near the ceiling...that was smart. |

that's exactly it. this guy is going to be tormented for the rest of his life. i would not be the least bit surprised if he committed suicide in like 5 years. his personal cell will be way worse than any judicial punishment. |
|
what if he's the type of guy who doesn't have a heart and just doesn't give a fuck, in a few years he won't even remember it.. hope this not the case here. |
|
there is that chance, but i gather from what i've read about his feelings towards this that he isn't, however i have no idea. |

Wow, don't you have any respect for the people who perished?

Didn't you read his post - he is one of those people! You shouldn't question his feelings on this; he is an hero! |
|
I still can't believe that they managed to cram over 400 people in a space so tiny.
In any case, this girl who was in one of my classes at the time had a brother die, and one of my uncle's ex-girlfriends died in that fire, and well...nothing wrong with making jokes. Though it did feel weird to have a national news story take place what can't be much more than 10 minutes from my house. |

hi there! |

That shark has poor dental hygiene; his gums are in terrible condition. |
|
The last inspector that cleared The Station should be in jail, not this guy. He's an idiot, not a murderer. |

i'm more concerned about that warty looking thing under his right snooker hole. |

exactly. whoever was in charge of the club and gave the OK for pyro is at fault. same with the fire inspector who slacked off and didn't order the place up to code. last i remember, the inspector got nothing.
