which of the early Darkthrone releases do you most recommend?

transilvanian hunger is probably THE disc to own if you need to own one disc.
though, A blaze in the northern sky or under a funeral moon are good too.

Get that one that isn't by Darkthrone. That's the good one.

Get them all, they are all worth owning. I think "Hate Them" is the best thing they have done in a long time. Probably the best since "Total Death" anyway.

Soulside Journey is cool too plus Preparing For War is really awesome. Hate Them is one of my favorites for 03.
Immortal - Battles in the North and Pure Holocaust are the heart of Immortal. Abbath plays drums on both, sick musician, I'm already wishing for a reunion tour. At the Heart of Winter has a more developed sound, very epic, ambient plus it also has the greatest promo photos ever.
