Just wanted to name drop a few "new" thrash bands that I find extreamly cool. I keep hearing stuff about how "thrash is back" and that its going to kill the metal'core' trend soon. I have no idea how they know this unless these are industry (record labels) people that are going to be willing to invest money into these bands and promote them into commercial status... anyway some cool bands:

RAZOR FIST
WARBRINGER
GAMMA BOMB - "...lets thrash like its '86. Put on your bullet belt!" whoa
DEKAPITATOR
HYADES
DR. LIVINGDEAD
FUELED BY FIRE
MERCELESS DEATH
STRIKEMASTER
HELLISH CROSSFIRE
SUICIDAL ANGELS
ARBITRATOR
FLESH MADE SIN
MAZE OF TORRMENT
ABANDONED

the list goes on. i heard there are secret forums out there where you can "borrow" any band you desire. even stuff from the good ol days. i really hope a thrash scene becomes big and kicks this metal'core' perversion out of the water. sorry its not metal to my ears.

toggletoggle post by da chief at Jul 30,2007 11:31am
DEKAPITATOR i believe has members of exhumed and are on relapse records.

the whole thrash is back and here to stay moment sucks, and over the last couple of years someone says its here to stay.

thrash never went anywhere, you did you fuckin dolt.

so sick of hearing about this shit.

I think its cool that there has been a thrash resurgence but most of these young throwback bands sound veeery similar. I would be a lot more interested if they were trying to do something new in the thrash style but most seem content, or only capable of, ripping off the old classic bands.

Also, RAMMING SPEED, an old school band that I feel brings something new to the table as well, couldn't even get one show in the Bay area in CA, even though according to Myspace that area is crawling with these thrash resurgence bands. thrash in an 07 M5? thats like oil and water. thrash belongs in something like an 88 Caprice Classic or an 83 Ponitac Parisienne.

Merciless Death is great! I HIGHLY recommend EVILE...they just got signed to Earache and are excellent! Obviously, Municipal Waste is leading this charge and I couldn't be happier...so many bands out there have got the sound and vibe down right! it's great to see and hopefully it will see the popularity it once had

I've been living in the bay area for the last year, and there is definitely a big "thrash is back!" buzz going on over there. Problem is almost all of the bands sound the same, no originality and nothing to make them stand out when the trend passes. Merciless Death, Warbringer Fueled by Fire and all them come play all the time, and it's boring as fuck all. Lots of 16 year olds in high tops and patched up denim, who somehow think they're better than scene kids. Dekapitator actually are pretty sick. If you're a fan of them, check out Matt Harvey's new outfit, Scarecrow. I don't know if they have any recordings yet but they sound AWESOME live. Also I gotta plug my personal favorite young bay area thrash band, Hatchet - http://www.myspace.com/hatchet2006 although I'm pretty sure everything they have on there still sounds awful, so I'm not doing them much of a service :P

i have every single band on classicthrash.com on my macpro and would love to just put it up for anyone to have. it would be an "educational" upload. but i do agree that these 'new' thrash acts do not bring anything new to the table BUT i guess for me its the nostalgia behind it all. i was watching a bunch of vids on utube with those bands and i'm thinkin, where the hell did they get their jean jackets? what is up with the wardrobe. i really felt like i was back in high school (god that was ages ago) but seeing 16 year olds wearing the stuff... nah, that is just not right. its like halloween.

I did check out Scarecrow and Hatchet, both very good. I actually was able to DL some of their songs.

but i do appreciate the new bands trying to keep it real

Exactly why, even though I am a huge fan of thrash, I couldnt be bothered with most of these new throwback bands. (Although there are definitely some bands that are just straight up awesome). If I need new thrash to listen to, I'd rather dig deeper into finding demo recordings of my favorite old bands than listen to people with no originality. These kids need to come up with their own style, not rip off a carbon copy of what happened twenty years ago.

i agree with you about revocation. if they were just pure old school thrash, i probably wouldn't like them as much as i do. they bring other elements into their sound. they have a lot of progressive stuff and some death elements. i think they are pretty unique and really talented at songwriting as well as their instruments.

HOSPITAL OF DEATH. free music online and the lyrics are a joke but musically its thrash in the vein of old Anthrax yet reminds me sometimes of Hammerfall/Helloween to old metallica. Their power ballad is hilarious, "I love you so much I can't shit and that aint no joke"

Space Eater is another cool "old school" sounding back with Forbidden/Belladonna vocals.

Negligence is really cool with Dark Angel'ish style vox

Meltdown from PA is real kill em all sounding

Witchburner from Germany is old school sounding with carcass style vox

Nocturnal Breed bordering on dmetal though but still thrashy

Destructor from OH

lots of thrash is out there today. I'm so tired of Killswitch and stuff like that.

LOL. All bands are business tools from the low independent labels to the major market pushers. Do you honestly think thrash metal is any different from metalcore or even ponk (pop-punk) music? Metal Blade are signing bands like Fueled By Fire and Warbringer because they make Brian Slagel a fat rich bastard, not because they're "metal". There are agents out there who scout different scenes every three or four years to find the next big trend. That's all 'thrash is back' is. It's a cultural trend that is going to make record companies and the fashion industry money just like every other style has for decades. In two years you will hear all of these "true/non-corporate" bands on ten o clock radio and everyone will be listening to old Megadeth albums and people will say just as they did twenty years ago "Man. Remember the glory days back in '03 when thrash was underground and pure?" Mark my words.

Metal Blade are signing bands like Fueled By Fire and Warbringer because they make Brian Slagel a fat rich bastard, not because they're "metal".

WHITE PEOPLE, I TELL YA

this happens at least once a year. a buncha cheap ass college kids who don't support any metal shows go to a basement or "secret" show that happens to have a keg-a couple of retards assemble in a large group, then a few people convince themselves that "THRASH IS FUCKING BACK DUDE, THE BOSTON SCENE IS FUCKING AMAZING RIGHT NOW, YOU'RE AN ELITIST IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT".

. In two years you will hear all of these "true/non-corporate" bands on ten o clock radio and everyone will be listening to old Megadeth albums and people will say just as they did twenty years ago "Man. Remember the glory days back in '03 when thrash was underground and pure?" Mark my words.

words are marked, it's 2 years later, and you failed.
