I haven't been to Milly's Tavern but the Brickhouse always has a good draw and it's just a nice place to play.

Milly's is fuckin' ill cause they got killer home brews, a huge stage, and a pretty cool atmosphere. However, the Dover Brickhouse doesn't have a ghetto night club out back where lil' whitey g-units leavin' da club crunk whack into your car and take off.

Thanks.
What's the stage setup like at Brickhouse?? How's the sound there, specific stuff like that..
And if anyone has names, telephone numbers and/or e-mail addresses of booking people that would rule

toggletoggle post by hungtableed at Jun 25,2007 9:36pm
The sound at both venues is top notch, that is, in my personal opinion of course.

I've only played the Brickhouse, but it gets my vote because it's one of my favorite places to play at EVER. I would jump at another chance to play that joint.

The stage isn't great by any means but it's do-able. The sound is decent but the sound guy is a scene fag. Apsiody is playing there the 15th. It's a decent place overall.

No problemo. I hope to catch Hekseri at the Brickhouse. I haven't seen you since you played the Cambridge Elks back in October I think.

My bands have played the Brickhouse a bunch and it really is one of the best places around.
The sound system is amazingly clear, and the guys behind the board know what they're doing.
Bands always get a portion of the door and are given a good amount of time to play.
As a bonus, the food there is delicious.
the only negative thing I can think of is the stairs you have to bring your gear up.

thats a toss up... i really enjoy both clubs. milly's has a bigger stage though.

I only like Milly's for convenience -- we could literally roll the cabs across the street from our jam space. The sound isn't that great and the sound guy the last 2 times has been a tool -- the fucking kid tells me to turn down my amp everytime and I tell him no. I'm only on "2" so I can't "Come down 2 notches". He always mixes the guitars too low. I've wanted to play the Brickhouse for awhile, but the metal shows are usually during the week which doesn't work well for us.

the "biggest and baddest" band on earth very much prefers the brickhouse over milly's for various reasons.

(better sound, no stage obstructions, all ages on sunday shows, soundguy/security doesn't take all the money the bands should get)

I work there and have yet to see this "Ghetto Nightclub" in the back. However there is a 21+ ,non-smoking BAR in the back with a huge screen TV that mostly plays sports. Dover Brickhouse, Never been there , heard some good reviews, heard some bad reviews,Seems more of a hardcore club to me.

Brickhouse wins hands down.

Brickhouse has better lighting and probably the best sound out of any club. Also, the bands get really really cheap food/beer/etc... You can mosh there as long as you don't hurt anyone else or go through something. The guys that run the DBH love music. they have been going to shows for longer than any of you. I see them all the time at shows in Boston. Couple that with Zack on the sound/light boards and it's awesome.
did I mention that they can make a pentagram with lights behind them?

I think what he was referring to is during the show on Saturday, that bar in the back was chock full of wegroes hanging out outside, looking all ghetto. I think I overheard it was some birthday party or something.

I wrote them on myspace and am waiting for a reply. Does anyone know another way of contacting the booking people there??

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Jun 26,2007 10:07am
where? Milly's or the DBH? the DBH would book you (mostlikely) on a wednesday.

toggletoggle post by the_network_booking   at Jun 26,2007 10:18am
brickhouse by far...Milly's sucks! good beer but the venue as far as playing sucks...(maybe I'm just saying that because we are banned from playing there)...but there was a time when we were also banned from the BH and still this is the best place to play by far.

toggletoggle post by RichHorror  at Jun 26,2007 10:19am
Brickhouse wins because I said it was the best. And I know everything.

Brickhouse

i think it's gay that milly's is pay to play, plus you have to pay $70 or something if you can't supply your own bouncer. but i have wifee for bouncing when we play there, so no worries =P.

i heard the brickhouse rules, the only thing is that it is in Dover (which is far from me). if you get a show during the school year, advertise your show to UNH metalheads(not sure how many of them there are =P)

. i know this rapcore band that has a show up there in august i think, one of their rapcore buddies is booking that place with some frequency (i think its the guy in lot 51 or whatever)

It's $75 for them to supply a doorman at Milly's, and they made me do that. Trust issues? Even though he told me he wasn't having his doorman touch any of the money because he had a problem last week with one of his stealing some, so that's why one guy was checking ID's while my good friend Bryan was taking the money, not to mention Milly's costs $150 to book.

My choice is Brickhouse. Haven't played there in a long time, but it's still my top choice out of the two.

toggletoggle post by timjohn at Jun 26,2007 11:37am
YEAH I AM PLAYING DRUMS FOR ARMORY (POWER METAL) NEXT MONTH AND THE OTHER BANDS ALREADY PAYED AND SUPPLIED A DOORMAN, BUT IT IS STILL PRETTY GAY.

AND THEY MAKE YOU AGREE TO A NON-COMPETE COVENANT WHICH IS ONLY IN EFFECT A WEEK BEFORE AND AFTER YOU PLAY THERE...

LAWLZ WE'RE NOT METALLICA WE'RE A LOCAL METAL BAND FROM MA

above refers to milly's, not trying to hijack =P

toggletoggle post by immortal13 at Jun 26,2007 12:08pm
They never made me or the bands I had playing last weekend agree to any kind of non-compete covenant.

toggletoggle post by timjohn at Jun 26,2007 12:10pm
IT'S ON THEIR WEBSITE, TOC, SAYS THAT BY PLAYING THERE YOU ARE AGREEING TO IT

toggletoggle post by mcmahon  at Jun 26,2007 12:47pm
Brickhouse.

toggletoggle post by Farten_Dust at Jun 26,2007 4:00pm
Sound is better at the brickhouse..just a cooler overall vibe too.

toggletoggle post by PaganMegaN   at Jun 26,2007 4:11pm
I'm not going to bother with Milly's, needless to say.

toggletoggle post by immortal13 at Jun 26,2007 8:35pm
Well, sucks for them cuz we played there on saturday and we're playing at the VFW on thursday. It's not a legit agreement unless it's a signed contract in my opinion, and as mentioned in another thread, I don't do contracts when it comes to shows.

toggletoggle post by powerkok   at Jun 26,2007 9:02pm
Ive played both 50 times....hands down DBH has better sound, and is a better jernt.
Only thing about Millys that is better is the beer. The End.
