I haven't listened to Starkweather in a long time, I'm not sure if I'd even like them anymore. |

Nope. Starkweather kicks major amounts of ass. I have a comp with a tune they did in like 91' called tumult.

I'm trying to find the song tumult. I haven't heard it in a long time since most of my cd's were stolen. If it's the song I'm thinking of I used to love it. Help please. |

That wasn't the song after all. Hmm...don't know what comp it was on. |
It's called East Coast Assault. Also has Confusion, Next Step Up, Bricklayer, and Merauder with some other singer. |
radness. starkweather anyway. i might be doing sound for this.
rev., get in touch with me and crow if you're coming out so's we can hang.
if clitorture plays i'll go |
major starkweather fan!!!!!!!!!!! |
Since it's Albany, I'm sure they'll be busting out some of that oldtimey Into The Wire and Crossbearer shit. If EVER there was a band that was truly "criminally underrated" - it is Starkweather. Consistently ahead of the curve. New shit has members of Kayo Dot contributing, I think. FUCK!!! |
The East Coast Assault comp is worth the money. Find it and Buy it |
on the road, got gas coffee and grapes. can't wait! |
just saw a building in worcester get hit by lightning. |
I'm here, doors in 20 minutes. there aren't too many people here. I think everyone that I know albany-metal-wise are in europe right now. |
final sleep, the: they are just as oddly pressed before MPB as MPB is before starkweather. Think iron maiden meets starkweather, but a lot more sparce. Sort of like a local band covering nevermore. It was pretty good, but I looked around the room at all the basement hats, yankees paraphenalia, and saggy shorts. I must say that I'm both really impressed and let down by albany crowds. I'm impressed because those aforementioned dudes stood there for the whole set, clapped, and at the end, some of them came up and shook the band's hands. now that makes them the coolest. The thing that let's me down about albany is that more than 1/2 of any crowd that I see here is not albany people. They are from 180+ miles away. It's like people in albany don't care and they don't come out to shows. ATTN ALBANY: you get some pretty awesome tour that people from other places (including the much fabled new england) are jealous about it so go out to these shows so that in 2-5 years when you know/care about these bands, you can tell people that you already saw them "like 2 to 5 years ago." and that would totally make you like the coolest. |
I saw starkweather about a dozen times in Europe |
they were outside talking about all their shows in europe and not wanting to come back to the US. |
Have them tell you about the show in Lille, France |
did they have the newr but "older" looking bassplayer there?
most precious blood: obviously that's what all the kids were waiting around for. I don't care if I could or could not get any good shots, this set reminded me of the first time I saw them with rob back in 2003? @ the mass skatepark. No barricade and people doing what ever they want. The only thing that caused a kid to get "in trouble" was hanging from the ceiling during the very last song. The only think that I saw that was dumb was someone taking off their shoe to knock people on top of the head. Com'on dude, that's both stinky and wrong! Their set was 45, but seemed so short. It seemed like they started and then all-of-sudden everyone's on stage yelling "what would you die for" and they were done. I was very surprised that is was over. These guys have to play the cambridge elk's lodge.
when MPB ended, most of the crowd jetted. you could tell the people who were going to stay for starkweather from the beginning. |
ok, let me apologize to albany and the people at this show. most of them came back in and even started dancing during the first song. second song on now. |
OMG.. will post what walked in during the last one minute of starkweather's set. WTF. |

It's about time Todd got a new guitar. |

were you as uncomfortable as i was when it came up onto the booth? jeez. when he opened his mouth i expected a pitch-shifted demonic voice and a swarm of locusts to fly out, but he just sounded like a regular dude. which made the whole thing even stranger.
yikes.

IT WAS BEHIND ME.
how the fuck comfortable could I possibly be. I thought it was coming to yell at me for taking a picture with it in it so I pretended to take another picture like I messed up the first one. |
I just found this on my phone.
starkweather: like I said, just about everyone came back inside and there were tons of people singing along. Awesome to see these guys getting the respect the deserve. I always think of these guys playing as a big deal cause you just never hear of them playing shows around here. Needless to say, they sounded better than anything you have ever heard. They opened up with a lot of the heavier black-metal vocaled songs before they started to play any of the "stone temple pilot" (sorry I don't know how else to decribe it). I'm not a big fan of those cleaner parts, but I was in luck. They barely did any of them and they played maybe on new new song. So it was more of the older, darker stuff that I think is much better. When they would cross back into the heavier parts, people in the audience would follow by moshing. |
