New site? Maybe some day.
Had not heard the album in almost a year, and decided to put it on in its entirety today. I know they are either loved or hated, and recently I've become more of the latter, but this album is gorgeous.
In the song, "Machine Gun Majesty," the middle section around the 2nd minute begins with this continuously strummed chordy riff, and the progression, along with Mattias Eklund's bad ass leads (at one point using a dildo for effect) is just beautiful.
Oh, what once was.
everybody get gay |
amazing album, how about in the title track when he sounds like he messes up and screams "fuck!" and come on millionflame; flawless.
i may be alone, but soilwork back in the day was WAY better than in flames. go ahead, slaughter me with negativity and "you dont know shit!" remember im rubber... |
brings back the memories. I learned that bad ass lead back in the day in my lessons. |
Yeah great CD. I liked em up to Natural Born Chaos, and even that was on the road to gay-town. The newest shit is just terrible though, unfortunately. |
I don't know about them being way better. But, I agree. Plus I always thought In Flames was boring as hell to see live although I did like them too. Now they both suck, damn Swedes.....and Americans. |

i believe they actually took the bootytrain to sausagetown.
i agree with anthony fully. "natural born chaos" was to soilwork as "clayman" was to in flames. neither are bad albums in full, but you could tell they were both heading in the wrong direction. |
Chainheart was incredible. It's too bad they decided to change their sound. At least there's Disarmonia. |
i love the song millionflame i think its called im not into soilwork but that song is good |
i liked soilwork up until the newest album. natural born chaos and figure number five weren't as technical as the older albums, but they still had good songwriting and memorable songs. stabbing the drama was crap. my favorite album by soilwork will always be a predator's portrait. |

i knew you'd have something to say about this. |
i thought Natural Born Chaos was the perfect balance between technicality and accessability, which I would also attribute to Clayman. Gayness in those albums? I'd say not but anything after them for both bands blew |
NBC was the last album I liked. Predator's Portrait was way better. |
A Predator's Portrait ended my love for soilwork. Everything after I can listen to, but its not like listening to the same band
one of my favorite things about Soilwork that I never got to see (hear) is the song Grand Failure Anthem (my all-time fave) and Sadistic Lullabye LIVE. The last track on the remastered Steelbath Suicide is Sadistic Lullabye live, and its so unbelievably fast and awesome, their energy back in the day will be sorely missed.
stop singing you pansy |
Sadistic Lullaby is my favorite Soilwork song. |
my favorite is the one about the candy canes. |
Soilwork is actually one of my many favorite bands....
A Chainheart Machine is great. I personally dig "Steelbath Suicide" the most. |
Natural Born Chaos was better because it was where they finally mastered the style they started developing on this and Predator's Portrait.
Steelbath Suicide was a good post-At the Gates wannabe album. |
My opinion on the whole Soilwork/In Flames deal is:
As Soilwork gets somewhat better with every album (though stabbing the drama was a bit nu-metal), In Flames just keeps getting worse. |

Backed.
I never got into In Flames. Ever. |
Personally, I thought the Portrait album was the beginning of their demise. It just had cheesy rock parts to it, but still had some cool technical parts. I saw it coming with that album so when NBC came out I wasn't surprised that it sucked. Steelbath was good. |
