when i was a telemarketer i used to fuck with the people that i had to call.

Telemarketers drove me insane when I was home during the day during college breaks. They'd start at like 9 am and never stop until at least 3:00. This one spanish lady used to call every single day, and my mother would scream at her and tell her she didn't speak spanish. I finally had to put all my 5 years of spanish classes to work to convince the lady not to call back.

The best were the ones that were horribly unprepared for their jobs. Once, I answered the phone to the sound of violent coughing. I said hello when he was done, the guy totally panicked, and I could hear the shuffling of papers while he said "Is ummmm mister ummmm yeah....." followed by the worst pronunciation of my last name I've ever heard. I said "you really suck at this, pal." and hung up.

She-ay? is that how he pronounced it?

those bastards mispronounce my last name too. how hard is it to say gillis?

the trick to telemarketing is lying to old/foreign people... everyone else is a waste of time.

i usually pickup and say i just cut my hand open and am on my way to the hospital.

I have several years of telemarketing experience. Unfortunately, I'm really good at it. People will say some pretty screwed up things to you, though. One of the best was:

Little kid picks up the phone and says hello
Telemarketer guy: Hello. Is your mom there?
Little kid: No, but yours is.

this one sham calls up all the time saying I won tickets to all these resort areas but all I gotta do is go pick them up and see this thing about timeshares

I tell them well gee whiz mam I must b the luckiest motherfucker on earth because this is the 5th time I have won these fucking things

There's an easier solution...it's called the Do Not Call List and I hope it puts all these maggot companies out of business.

Get rid of your home phone and just use a cellphone. I can't remember the last time anyone here answered the home phone and my dad hasn't had one in years.
