New site? Maybe some day.

Looking into getting a new axe for X-Mas and was looking for suggestions between the 400-600 dollar range. I'm currrently playing an LTD EC-300 Arch-Top Special and was looking for something that will play faster than this. The neck's a bit bulky for me and it just doesnt feel as comfortable as when I have an Ibanez, or something of the like, in my hands.
Was looking at the Ibanez s-series
Suggestions? |

How about this one:

Get the Ibanez. Our synagogue owns stock in it, and they're great underpriced guitars. |

Stick with LTDs. Your EC300 is a 24" scale with a with a wide ass gibson-profiled neck.
Try an MHNT model.
I would avoid any ibenhads in that price range. Same with Dean and Washburn.
You could probably grab a schecter hellraiser for that price, but you want a 25.5 scale, and I think those only come in 24.5. |

im not even going to say anything in this thread. im just going to let niccolai talk about ESP/LTDs. |

I've played Ibanez for years and they make a quality no-frills guitar.

The sample axe in the photo on this page is identical to one I own:

It's not a rockstar guitar, but for sheer action + quality thick body sound it's an awesome unit. I'd probably upgrade some day to a Gibson SG, but farting around with guitars is only sensible when you have a label/sponsor to pay for it. (Yes, I'm Jewish in my soul when it comes to money... matzohs and Holocaust memorials are for me!)

Explorers are short shale, thicker/slower necks then your EC300 (same neck size, but with a softer, stickier nitro finish).
Plus they have a fat heel and no explorer has ever had decent stock pickups.
Avoid like the plague. |

reg explorers are a bit bulky but if you could get your hands on a mattias jabs explorer 90
its built 90% the size and it seems awesome, however i wont probably ever touch one so i cant jaw too much about it |
