the violence in revere may be ultra high that december night

club lido is fucking horrible, hopefully they wil have someone working there that knows what to do when all the power turns off, which it will cause every show i've been to there they've had to stop the show 3-4 times cause there heads are too far up there asses.
i'm guessing they will play mostly jane doe, you fail me and, the new one but if they played anything from or earlier PtES that would kick ass... saddest day is a must

id be fine hearing jane doe and no heroes both are great records.
i'm not upset, i just saw it as somewhat of a shot directed towards me because i backed up brockton shows before. i guess i fail to understand why you feel the need to continue to badmouth local hardcore, or read threads about it if you hate it so much.

please, i don't wish to cause a stir. i just want you to lower your voice, i'm sorry.
4 pm doors and 5 bands? This thing gonna be over by 9 or something? I'll probably go. I wanna see Converge, but I don't wanna deal with the mosh ninjas that will inevitably show up at this.
Last time I saw Converge there weren't any ninjas(at least not during their set), just a lot of stage crowding and diving which was sweet. Considering the sheer number of opportunities I got to stage dive, I'd say that was one of the best shows I've ever been to.
I know the show at the El 'n' Gee tonight starts at 7 and is 13 bucks(ouch), I will be headed down soon.
They played The Saddest Day when I saw them at the Living Room a year and a half ago.
They didn't play it tonight but it was still a great set nonetheless. The only songs they played from before Jane Doe were Locust Reign and Forsaken. I can still smell all the sweat.

I just got back from the El n Gee, this show was great.
That was the first time I've ever been to the place, I really liked it. This was also the first show in a long time to actually hurt my ears, so that's another positive I guess.
They've been playing The Saddest Day for ten years. I think they just want to move on and play new material. They never play anything off of Caring and Killing either.

Seriously, these guys have been around for so long, they have to move on. I absolutely love Converge- old and new alike. Last time I saw them play (@ Worcester Palladium) I had really been hoping to hear some old stuff but they didn't play anything pre- Jane Doe. It was kind of disappointing, but was fun regardless. Its just better when you know the beats and when to scream along with the songs. Now after listening to No Heroes a bunch of times, I'm dying to go see them again so I can really rock out to the new shit. Tracks 8 and 12 (I can't remember the song names yet) are amazing.
Depends on which band they were. If they were the first band, I thought they were horrible. If they were the second band, they ruled. I think the second band was Colin of Arabia though.

id be even more excited if COA was playing instead of the opening bands listed
I know Blacklisted cancelled the New London show but both opening bands said they were COA(one was obviously joking). It must have been the first one who was joking because I've heard COA covers Infest and the second band did an Infest cover, so...
I checked older pictures and I guessed right. If Modern Life Is War really looked like that, their set probably would have been 100 times more entertaining.

does anyone know if this show is sold out or where I can get tickets or any information like that. Or is it just first come first serve
i like every track on their new album they all go together perfectly "grim heart/black rose" is one of my favorites.... it almost has a tool like sound even though i don't really like tool that much.
is the best way to get to lido just going on the train then switching the the blue to the wonderland stop?

Yeah get the Blue line to Wonderland and the club is right there on the driveway to the station parking lot.

Keith, I may have to follow you knee grows in on this one.
Lido is easy as fuck to get to. I'll be your guide, seeing as I drive by that pklace as part of work daily
the way I go is I take route 1s from 95s toward the tobin bridge.
get off at the exit for rt 60 and then take the third exit out of the rotary.. um.. then go straight thru 2 rotaries.. and then you have to go right to take a left at some lights and it's right over the hill passed the shopingcenter.
leaving by 3.
it's ok, but a bunch of commoners are piling up outside the walls.
they keep looking like they are letting people in and the security are talking on their walkie talkies... but not yet. I'm still in shorts so I'm happy to not be outside.
how far you driving?
I just asked people coming in if it looked sold out out there and they said "yes, it's back to the fence" I don't know what that means.
energy: good fun ammount of energy to start the show off with. They played a really short set, but people were there to hop off the stage and sing along. Tboner came down sort of on my back when he tired. I guess he didn't get caught like he should of. If I hadn't had my camera in my hand.... They did on misfits cover.
blacklisted: sort of a long set up time. A lot of the energy from energy seeped out. As soon as they started, the people rushed back in. Tboner was up front the entire time sort of joke moshing. At one point, I'm pretty sure his balls were on my sholder... Is that rock cause that aint pretty. They had 2 people come up on stage and do guest vocals. I think one was the singer of shipwreck and the other I don't know. Lot of people rolling around the stage for them. A taste of what's to come. I'm a little scared! kidding.
modern life is war: wow, the front row was so young for them. Their set up time was wholy acceptible and their set was awesome. People rolling around and having fun. Can't get much more positive than that! they started off with the outsiders like usual. The place lit off and didn't stop until the end. And the second they finished, the front cleared out. Right at the end of their set, there was a HUGE pig pile up on stage.
during their set, I couldn't stand out front stage right. Even wiith my earplugs, it was so damn loud.
some girls: what the fuck was that? They did their sound check and it was the most painful thing ever. And then the sound guy had them redo EVERYTHING. That's 2 drum-set, 2 guitars, 3 vocals, and the bass. Once their set actually started, the most part, their set was very subdued. Then for the last song, the bassplayer went up behind the 2nd kit and started playing. Then kurt (converge) came out playing guitar, jake (converge) came out screaming, and more people came out on drums, including wes, the singer. It decended into madness rather quickly with an actual pig pile on the mic and wes smashing the drums he was playing. Awesome way to end a show let alone a set. People ran up to clean the stage for converge.
i was impressed with some girls' set, i will honestly admit, and of course converge was awsome.

rev the converge pictures came out amazing! Are you using a different camera or lens (its chris corrado and i cant sign onto my name because im in school)
I used 4 basic camera settings
3 on my D2X (the first x pictures) but then the battery died...
so then I pulled out carina's canon 5D and shot manual ISO 1600 (mostly b/w) with a nikon flash on manual (and some without the flash). those were the shots during the saddest day.
the singer of energy looks like he went to the school of avenged sevenfold
post by anonymous at Dec 4,2006 4:31pm
all the bands kicked ass. my first time seeing energy. so good. blacklisted never gets old. modern life is war had a good set, but what the fuck with that kid standing on the stage the whole time. i dont really dig some girls. wes should just do a hardcore band again. converge played locust reign and the saddest day. off the hook..........
the plugs, the sleeve, the tight black pants and shirt, the slicked hair, the lips rings... i can see where the reference is comming from, but i wouldnt say its all that accurate.
I guess we were all wrong about this one. What a killer set! And then they closed with Saddest Day ~ it blew my mind! This show was waaaaaaay better than when they played at the Worcester Palladium a few months back. I love it when there's no barricade between the crowd and the stage. That shit's raw... exactly as it's meant to be!
I'm a little bummed that I missed the first couple bands though. I didn't get there until Modern Life Is War started... but at least I didn't have to wait in line!!!
Crazy crowd all the way through the night!!! People were tearing it up during MLiW. Some Girls took FOREVER to start and if you were listening/watching from anywhere close to the stage, the vocals were practically nonexistant. How many times did the vocalist ask the sound guy for more outta his mic? And then when the crowd shouted out "more vocals" did we get it? Didn't seem like it. That was not cool. Other than that, this entire show has kept me grinning from ear to ear since sometime in the early afternoon Sunday. I was thouroughly pleased with the set list for Converge. I think they played a pretty good variety of songs old & new. The energy from this show is gonna keep me going for a while!
all girls should be doing at shows are getting me drinks and giving me foot rubs.
I'm guessing that's you with your feet sticking straight up in the air in that picture (the one The Rev says went into the Phoenix)... still waiting for your foot massage? You're gonna be waiting a long time. Any chicks truely into hardcore or metal would likely scoff at the idea you propose. I might get a guy a drink if I cracked him in the skull down in the pit just to show some respect... other than that... um, no.

thanks to carina, this will be in the boston phoenix
And for the record, that's possibly my favorite shot out of all of them. Great angle. Kinda looks like Jacob is reaching out to the damned... and of course there's that one random foot sticking up among the mass of hands and heads. That's classic.

I'LL CONTINUE TO BUMP UNTIL ATTN: BLACK METAL LADY IS OFF!!!!
Unless you're accustomed to saying shit like, "all girls should be doing at shows are getting me drinks and giving me foot rubs." or "women are all a joke except for the sex part", then I doubt that is true. Most of the metal chicks I know are really down to earth and accepting of other metal heads.

damn.. Put this off too long. Thank you to boston chris. After I made a simple complaint about the red lights, he got the house guy to put white lights over them. Made my job so much easier.
converge: have yet to disappoint me. the set sounded awesome. They stuck mostly to the last 3 CDs, but also played locust reign and another... When they announced locust reign, I was tucked down in front on stage and my flash batteries were dead. What a terrible place and a terrible time for that to happen! it was just after you fail me. I was able to switch them quickly and keep snapping. at some point during their set, the mic became a giant fishing line hooked around 1/2 the people in the front. They ended their set (forget the song) and said they didn't want to do another song, but after a few minutes of looking like they weren't going to play another song, they picked up their equipment and went straight into the saddest day (ironically making it everyone's happiest day). From the first epic notes to the end, people went crazy. this song is a 7 minute trip though awesomeness. I fully understand why they only pull this out as a rare gem. At the end of the song, I was behind the drummer, pushed back as far as I could just trying to get as much of the scene as I could. I looked down at one of the last frames and damn if I wasn't getting a pose struck by chris. after so many years of listening to them and seeingg them, I coudn't have been more happy. amazing how they spend 15 years writing song about so many sad things and the shoulds are so positive.

that last song was concubine and when they started playing the saddest day the whole place just fucking blew up
