i may have just gotten the "big" art job i need to establish myself as a professional illustrator. fuck yeah!

when i was in florida for vacation a few weeks ago, i put a small stack of my business cards in a record store called Uncle Sam's. i just got a call from some guy in ft. lauderdale who picked up the card and wants me to illustrate an entire comic book/graphic novel type publication for a movie that will be featured in the sundance film festival. i guess he won 3rd prize for some screenwriting contest for the script, so he now has a huge grant for it, an agent/manager, a buttload of sponsorships, the script is copyrighted and published, the comic book will be published, and production of the film starts in late december/early january if all goes well. so this means i get paid a large chunk of cash for the art itself, plus royalties from the comic book, and if i end up doing storyboarding for the movie, i get royalties for the movie. either way, the big thing is that my work will be published and i will have my name in the credits for the movie.

i bet tomorrow i'll end up cutting my hands off at work somehow and my life will be ruined, hahaha.

i get the script tonight, hopefully it doesn't suck. all i know is that it features graphic stuff, so i'm in the right business, haha.

thanks for the kind words as well. like i said, i'm not getting too excited yet. i need to get some documentation to know this is 100% legitimate, then write up a contract and make sure i get at least 1/3 up front since this will probably take me a month to do.

I hope this happens so I can read this comic book.

werd up son. it should be pretty good from what he told me...one scene he asked if i would be too uncomfortable to draw is a child molestation flashback. this could end up being porn for rich horror and menstrual sweatpants disco. har har.

would you get creative control over the illustrations? or would they tell you exactly what to draw?

dertoxia, i have almost full control over the illustrations. i have been told what the comic book should be like, and i couldn't have agreed more with what he had to say.

and anti-racism, shouldn't you be focusing on trying to make the world a better place or something constructive of that nature? producers have nothing to do with me. i'm an illustrator, therefore i have no necessary affiliation with the movie business unless commissioned work of this nature is at hand. oh, and i did indeed invent that trick. what can i say, i'm a rennaissance man.

thanks for the kind words everyone. i may not get any sleep for the next month and a half, so this comic book better turn out sicker than a tuburculosis clinic.
