I have to wait a minute before I can search again, and my search came up with nothing the first time. That's dumb and I hate it, way to go.

you can too search the discussion board.
and it works better than it did before.
it doesn't freeze the discussion board for 17 to 34 seconds.
the search SQL query now runs for .6 to 1.5 sec

once you're on the search page, you can click on the word discussion (located on the upper left hand side of the page to the left of the place where you type in the words you want to search on.)

actually right above the box where you type in your search words...it defaults on "everything else" but once you click on discussion you can search discussion.
i told aaron that i didn't think it was 100% intuitive. but anyhow...who's the smartass searcher?

image that looks like this


click on that and you can search, it brings you right to the discussion search.

in the end, most things are going to be re-done with a special search page, I just need to find the time.

Put the discussion search and the everything else search clearly labeled on the same page. It took me way too long to find the tiny little link that switched me over to the search discussion page.

And the time thing is still dumb.
