Looking for affordable and safe place to make metal noise.

do storage places allow bands to practice on premises? I know thats how Morbid Angel used to do it back in the day...

Ocean State Percussion building. Its RIGHT off 95 just north of Providence. I think it may technically be in Pawtucket.

There's also a spot in Johnson right by this guy named Paul but I lost his number. We use to practice there and shared a spot with Vital Remains. Its behind a Shell station on Killingly st.

I Destroyer is in there too..as is Godless Rising and a bunch of others.

Those, from what I have heard have not been so safe. Wizard, is this the same place that you speak of? http://www.versaillesbuilding.com/index.htm If not do you know the deal with this joint?

The ocean state spaces are bit pricey. But I heard they are NICE.
I have been to the killingly st. place a few yrs back. Looked kinda cool.
Kinsalyer, do you know the price range for those rooms @ the killingly st. ?

I got the number for the "Music Complex" in Pawtucket, that place seems safe.

in our drummer's kitchen.

we built a space in a contractor's oversized shed. We painted it pink and put a balerina mirror in it....I'm serious by the way.

Thanks wizard.
The website says "1 year lease". No deals.

We had a room that we split with Vitalr Remains for $400/mo and it was plenty of room then we got our own room for $250/mo while it was kinda tight, it got the job done...we werent uncomfortable playing or anything, there just wasn't enough room to hang out and party etc...

toggletoggle post by anonymous at Jun 23,2006 5:14pm
the versailles building is a dump. yeah, its wicked cool getting stuck in a 1 year lease with a cumdumpster slut for a landlord, leaky ceilings, no heat, roach infestations and piles of mice that will shit all over everything you own. my band and i had gotten so fed up with that place we completely ruined the first floor, lit our room on fire and skipped out on the lease 4 months early.

toggletoggle post by the wizard of Olneyville at Jun 23,2006 5:34pm
never had any of those problems..other than the lease.

There were a few stolen cd players there but besides that it was fine. Our room had no heat in the winter but extreme heat in the summer. Hey it beats Vingi's.

I have heard more bad things about Olneyville spaces than good. I heard the cars being broken into story. The no heat in the winter sucks, you must get a reduced rent, because the website claims heat included.

Vingi's(over by the post office if i remember correctly) is that place that bad? My friends band practiced there yrs back. (their room was broken into, PA stolen) I remember the black iron doors on most of the rooms.

Anyone got a contact # or email for the place off of Killingly street??

I'd say the good out weighs the bad in Olneyville.

they fixed the heating system...we did get a month's rent free out of it, because it's in our lease. the new landlords seem to be trying to make the place better and safer...when someone tried to break in they changed all the locks. as far as cars getting broken into...it's olneyville. i'm not going to say it doesn't happen. ray's jeep got stolen once. that sucked a lot. at least the rents are reasonable.

the hathaway is NOT a good place to jam, Jaco the land lord is a fucking dick, the rooms are waaaaayyyy to small for the price (10x10 for $500) unless you get our old room (The departed space) which was huge, and shit gets stolen there on a daily basis and never gets recovered cause the cameras dont work they just sit there as a scare tactic

The basement in a house in Newport...it's a drive, but the rent is free.
