New site? Maybe some day.

Does anyone know of any kick ass drum lesson videos that are specific to fast double bass and blast beat styles of drumming? Im really fast now but I want to increase my stamina and endourance. I figure some good exercises could really help. |

Flo from Cryptopsy has one
Kevin Talley also has one which i'd LOVE to have |
|
for just speed, endurance, just get Flo Mounier of Cryptopsy's Extreme Metal Drumming 101 dvd. |
|
i'd get that if i had the insane amount of money he's asking for it |
|
goto youtube.com and type in drums or cryptopsy some of the lessons are on it... or check out a drum video by virgil donati hes fucking nuts and looks like a member of duran duran |
|
Try......... playing more. That is a great way to increase stamina and endurance. |
|
ditto....thats why i will never teach drum as a profession...because everything i learned, i learned from practicing...repetition, trial and error, etc. |

I got a very good instuctional video for doubles bass. |

YouTube actually has some videos from the Derek roddy instuctional DVD that go over some tough exercises for building stamina and strength. Kevin Talley has a video/DVD as well, but being that I have it and have seen it, I can't really recommend it for your specific purpose. It didn't really say much that would drastically affect your playing, but it is an interesting take on how he plays and also has his entire Slayer audition session. Also, mOe and metalguy are right, the best method of building strength, speed and advanced technique is practice, a couple hours a day on pads with NO rebound. You have to overwork your hands and feet to get them to respond faster on real gear. Think kick pedal against the couch with a pillow in front, and drumming on a shitty old remo practice pad, running through rudimentary exercises for a couple hours a day. |

I haven't seen the Flo DVD...but a lot of speed and endurance has to do with efficiency- that is minimizing the amount of work you have to do. I'm sure there are books on this alone, so I won't get into it on here- but it's a huge part of 'extreme' metal drumming. |
