VITAL REMAINS drummer Tim Yeung has had all of his cymbals and his case stolen following the group's performance at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood, CA Sunday night (April 9).

Commented Yeung: "It happened between 11:45 p.m. and 12:45 a.m. while DEICIDE [the headlining band] was on stage.

"I cannot believe someone would stoop down so low and steal someone else's gear that they worked so hard to acquire. This is how I make a living, and to the contrary, I pay for all my gear out of my own pocket. My 20" Ziljdian ride was in there. I saved up for two months to buy it when I was 16 years old. My 18" B8 pro Chinese which I have had for 13 years was also in there. They have both been with me almost my entire career. My case was a gift given to me from my father 11 years ago they are all irreplaceable.

"Here is a list of the other cymbals that were stolen:

8" AAX Splash
10" HH Splash 12" Mini Hats
14" AA Mini Chinese
14" B8 Pro Chinese
16" AA Studio Crash
17" AA Fast Crash
18" Medium Thin Crash
18" BA Pro Chinese
19" Carmine Appice Devestation Chinese
20" Ziljdian Custom Ride

"All are Sabian cymbals, with the exception of the Ziljdian ride.

"If anyone has any information regarding this matter please contact me on myspace.com or through my email: blastbeat1@yahoo.com. I am offering a generous reward upon recovery of my cymbals and case."

i had my Ampeg svt3pro stolen from the Chopping Block almost two years ago and I have STILL yet to replace it with an amp of comparable quality. Getting gear stolen can really set you back.

alex had his hi-hat stand jacked with the cymbals on it while at Dee Dee's. The cymbals are hard to find, I think they might not make them anymore?, so he put up an add on some site and someone responded. He met up with the dude and bought the hi-hats from him and that dude was John Beatz from Bayside who died in a van wreck last year. True story.

everyone needs to get gear insurance. It only costs me like $100/year. Worth it considering the fucking risk.

Music is shit, because people make it.

Since I'm about to graduate and all that jazz, I need to start looking at insurance. Do you have any recommendations for a company that has this gear insurance...and is it actually called gear insurance?

toggletoggle post by SteveOTB   at Apr 11,2006 11:07am
I think it's actually just Personal Insurance but I could be wrong.

toggletoggle post by brian_dc  at Apr 11,2006 11:09am

Insurance or not some of that equipment had setimental value to him. I don't blame the guy for crying; jesus a $4,500.00 guitar I'd be doing more than just crying I'd probably snap.

I have no idea what band it was (this wasn't a metal show - it was a jazz fusion concert i went to with my parents). i kinda felt for the guy. he must have been like 30 and he just kept saying, "That was $4,500" and had tears in his eyes while his GF hugged the poor guy. I never knew guitars could get that expensive!

Do you guys remember hearing about Bleed The Sky getting their whole entire trailer with all their equipment, merch, banners, and everything stolen? I hear it was like 30-40 grand worth of shit; I would've killed someone if that happened to me. This shit needs to stop.

Every musician who uses a car to transport equipment should get low jack. Trailers too. Also, keep some sort of catalog of serial numbers, or for guitars you can etch your name into the steel plate on the back of the body. It's never completely fullproof, but it's helpful.
