$2.62 in Portsmouth.
I also have a 13.2 gallon tank that had 1+ gallon left in it. the pump was really slow and I somehow magically put in 13.4 gallons.
something's wrong there.
where can I repost broken pumps?

the pump being that off is a serious issue.

This upcoming hurricane season is gonna blow big time. We'll probably see $4/gallon (easily) and what the fuck do we do then? Stay home and stop living? Most people cant all of a sudden afford to buy "earth friendly" fueled cars.

it's all the soccer mom's blowing fuel to drive the kids around in a huge car. not only did they probably waste $30K on the car, but they blow 12-18mpg to do it.

In Mass. pumps have an inspection sticker on them with the number to call if you feel you've been ripped off. I'm pretty sure I've seen similar stickers on pumps in New Hampshire

WEights and measures, their phone number is posted on the gas pumps.

However, if you're one of those retards who keeps clicking the handle after it stops to top off your tank or make an even dollar amount, don't bother calling. When people do this, what they don't realize is that they're actually sucking gas OUT of their tank every time they click that handle again.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Apr 10,2006 12:06pm
no, you aren't sucking gas out, you fill up the neck and then can damage your emissions system if the temperature changes. I just listened to the car talk guys talking about this.

uhhh....what about the tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of 18-wheelers and similar giant trucks that hit the road everyday? I wonder what their combined mpg is. still doesnt change the fact of terrible gas mileage. a single minivan and the gas it uses it DWARVED buy the tons of gas used by a single 18 wheeler. what if that truck hauls pop music around? is it justified then? not everything hauled is worth something.

yes, the 18 wheelers that are unregulated emissions-wise are working hard to haul around all the overpackaged, environmentally toxic bullshit crap you go out and waste your hard earned money on everyday. And fuck those soccer moms too, they can fit their yuppie-spawn in the back of a compact car no problem...even if they're fucking FAT! What really pisses me off is that none of those retardedly large trucks are ever used off road or to haul shit around, you know, like what they were made for, instead they have brats and groceries in them.

DAMN THE MAN! STEAL GAS!!!!
I highly recommend it....it's very easy and if done correctly can work out fine.
What I do is....cover all indentity markers...like stickers...whatever makes your car stand out from the rest. I use black electrical tape cause I have a black car.
Next....take your front liscense plate off before you get anywhere near the gas station. Leave the rear one on. It helps to make the plates easy to take off (wingnuts are great, cause you can do it by hand).
Find a crowded gas station that has a lot going on....I like doing it around the evenings when ppl are getting out of work. I always map out the station a bit to get an idea of escape routes.
Once you know where you want to hit take your rear plate off very close to the gas station...make sure it's close though...so you don't get pulled over for having no plates.
Wear a hoodie...sunglasses, whatever...in case you're on camera (most likely you will be) I like to look like the unabomber pumping gas =).
Fill that fucker up with the HIGEST GRADE of gas....get in the car...and just fucking take off. Simple. Stop somewhere as soon as you can and put your plate back on.
I know it may sound a bit sketchy....but overall it's been very easy for me. It's saved me tons of money as well! I try to do it every few weeks in between paying for gas.
Oh yeah...I don't recommend hitting stations in your own town...find somewhere you wouldn't commonly get gas in the first place. Stay away from your local stores that you frequent.
I know it may sound too risky to some of you. But damn, once you steal that gas....it really sucks paying for it ever again.
Anyway...anyone got similar methods out there?

With the price of gas getting more and more ridiculous, this is becoming more common every day. More and more stations are switching to the pay before you pump policy because of all the theft.

I'm not saying you shouldn't steal gas, but don't fool yourself into thinking you're getting over on "The Man". All you are getting over on is the poor schlub who owns that particular gas station.
If you want to get back at the oil companies you'll have to buy a long-range rifle and take out a few executives.

i agree to a certain extent. the difference is that here the city is set up so its not friendly to cars. most people ride bikes or take trams. every city should be like that. but for people that commute to work everyday in the states and have no option but to drive it isnt fair to them to have to pay that much to drive back and forth from work. when the public transportation gets better and cities make it is easier to ride bikes around ill be fine with 8 dollar a gallon prices.

sean, i heard prices are up because of the situation in niger or someplace around there in west africa; i could be wrong. either way, this sucks. good thing i'm slightly crippled so i don't have to do that much driving for a few weeks, haha. cheapest i've seen is the hess near my school, $2.69 a gallon. highest i've seen is $2.89, not including premium prices

i have never done this but it would be really easy to do...go down to the harware store and buy a handpump with a garden hose adapter{they definately make these} aquire 10 feet of garden hose and as many gas cans as you can fit in your car, wait till the sun goes down,,find a gas station in a quiet place that closes early and isn't likely to be patrolled, find the tanks for the gas,,they are usually about 4/5 inch little manhole looking covers, pop it up,slide the hose in and start pumping,,fill emall up and get outta there, the best part of this is they measure the gas with sticks in these tanks, you could steal ALOT of gas before anywaone figured it out,it's just a matter of how ambitous you are,,,,or so i've been told

Did anyone ever stop and question all the taxes put on gas? I guarantee that's 60-80 cents a gallon extra you're paying.

I saw a place down here today for 2.99 at the cheapest grade. If I drove further down the road, there is this one station (Texeco I think) and it probably would have been about 3.45 a gallon at 87 grade, but I heard they make their money on things other than gas if you catch my drift... my Dad refers to them as "those dotheads"...

i have never done this but it would be really easy to do...go down to the harware store and buy a handpump with a garden hose adapter{they definately make these} aquire 10 feet of garden hose and as many gas cans as you can fit in your car, wait till the sun goes down,,find a gas station in a quiet place that closes early and isn't likely to be patrolled, find the tanks for the gas,,they are usually about 4/5 inch little manhole looking covers, pop it up,slide the hose in and start pumping,,fill emall up and get outta there, the best part of this is they measure the gas with sticks in these tanks, you could steal ALOT of gas before anywaone figured it out,it's just a matter of how ambitous you are,,,,or so i've been told

sounds like it would be hard to get away with. i imagine alot of gas stations are going to install surveillance cameras if they haven't already. i wouldn't want to steal gas because i'd be screwing over the station owner, not the corporation owner.

it's definately something you want to be careful about doing,,heres another idea, that asshole up the street with the suv,go over there one night and drain his tank dry! haha it would be hilarious if everyone started stealing gas from suv owners,i think the only way to really solve this is if we all start riding bikes and walking and carpooling as much as we can,you kill two birds with one stone that way,you get stronger and healthiear and save some cash at the same time,we are the fattest nation on earth after all,i wish someone would start some kind of movement like that to get people walking and biking instead of buying gas, because when the demand goes down the prices have to also, why doesn't infoterror take up this cause?
