I started blocking them.
grrr... I've banned like 30 ips from them. and they are hitting the site at like 30/second! |
yahoo is haxing ur shit noob |
Is this their search engine spiders or whatever they call those things? |
DO YOU HAVE ROBOTS.TXT?
IF SO, YAHOO SHOULD GO PICK COTTON.
yahooseeker1.2 reads robots.txt and then doesn't pay attention to it. |
What is yahooseeker 1.2 exactly? |
its a spider for yahoo.com
so far this month, they have downloaded over 17GB from rttp |

that made me laugh

That's pretty sketchy. Why would a spider be downloading that much? Try emailing a copy of your log to yahoo support, see if there's anything they can do about it.
This just furthers my opinion that anything yahoo blows. |
I just looked and added up ALL the yahoo spiders and they downloaded over 59GB this month.
damn.
google's only 11GB. |
wow, at any rate, that's a shitload of bandwidth to have leeched by a spider...
even google's 11GB is a lot. |
yeah, but I really don't mind the googling. they are more of a trickle. the yahoo one ate dick and I blocked their ips. |
I don't understand a word of this thread, but Fuck Yahoo. |
they killed it again today. |

I miss those yahoo TV commercials.
they should film a new one where they assist the Chinese government to throw dissidents in jail
i don't understand much of this, but i do know that those spiders suck, i couldn't even get in this morning. |
yeah it even temporarily "paused" our emails...sucks!!! |
yeah, Yahoo just raped all accessable bandwidth. have you sent yahoo hate mail yet? I can understand a little here and there, but for how slow (or non existant) the site was running this morning, it felt like they raped and pillaged your bandwidth |

they more than raped and pillaged, they flat out fucked the bandwith in the ass to the sweet beat of elton john
I don't understand any of this.......spiders or whatever. But....is that legal? Seeing as you pay for the hosting and all....how is it that they can scum your bandwidth like that? |
how do we get back at them? |
What was up with this site earlier this morning? I couldnt get it to come up on my computer.Server problems maybe? |
I am the server.
they was escentially DoS the site.
2-3 server requests a second is a little much, no? |
the_reverend said: 2-3 server requests a second is a little much, no? |
yeah, definately... I say we get a shit ton of people to ping flood yahoo, with large packets |
ahahahaha, your funny.
1) packet of death's are fixed in 99% of ip stacks out there (unless you are hitting a win95 machine and I believe yahoo runs on FreeBSD which I don't think ever died from PODs)
2) attacking yahoo is like trying to blow over the empire state building.
their servers are the biggest hubs in the country.
they load balance in a ton of different place in the coutry with clustered hubs. cut out al lthe conections going over the mississippi and you will still have yahoo on either side of the country.
most of the traffic (especially in this area of the country) actually goes through switches/center hubs/fiber that they own.
they also deploy adaptive IDS solutions which actually scans incoming connections to see what they want and then figure out it it's valid and looks for some server that isn't too busy.
in the end, they would never see your "attack" and the only thing that could come out of it would be possible legal troubles for you. |
this is worse than prison rape (and I should know) ;)
there nothing that anyone can do? |
not really.
I'm blocking them anyhow. |

can you totally and completely block them?
I just block out their ips from the site in my code.
it makes them make a lot more rquests faster, but since the requests aren't doing more than printing "die now" to them, it's all good. |
