This band rules. Too bad their Penetrated Unseen Suppresssion CD was so short.

toggletoggle post by the_reverend   at Oct 24,2005 9:02am
listening now. sounds like a lot of the bands from 2002/2001 from the mid-west.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Oct 24,2005 9:08am
All the brutal DM bands around now put metalcore bullshit in between their slam riffs. Fucking gay. Japan is still doing it right.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Oct 24,2005 9:19am
I have to find some more Glossectomy. That was retardedly good.

toggletoggle post by tomx at Oct 24,2005 10:57am
disconformity is made up of the members from glossectomy. and yeah, both are awesome. you can actually buy diconformity's new cd at deathgasm records, its called depravation of stigma.

Not bad, but I'm not too into all the constant slam riffs. Anyone got some recommendations of faster death with a little more variation? I have a lot but I'm always interested to hear more.

I've got all of those except the last one. Wormed is pretty interesting and Psycroptic has some great, great riffs and structures.

I'll check out Signs of Dying. Thanks man.

no problem! i just pulled that off the top of my head becasue thats what ive been listening to lately...im sure when ive got a few i can just skim over my collection and see what else would be good

I do get a lot of death metal (through both legitimate and illegitimate means) but it's not exactly my specialty area of metal. I've been into a lot of the Polish stuff lately as well as that whole UK/Euro scene influenced by Morbid Angel, bands like Mithras, DAM and Ingurgitating Oblivion. But I don't know all that much about US death, except the old stuff.

I love some of those bands, and some I don't really care for. Whenever I talk about a lack of brutal DM bands I suppose I should say DM bands with slams. I mean, sure Decrepit Birth has low gutterals and some heavy riffs now and then, but it's all speed and no groove. I needs me some breakdowns.

toggletoggle post by Yeti at Oct 24,2005 12:45pm
Mithras is one of the most bizarre things i have ever heard. i have also been focusing on the polish scene. Decapitated fucking rocks.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Oct 24,2005 12:58pm edited Oct 24,2005 1:05pm
Oh yeah man, Mithras is intense. If you like Decapitated, and you haven't heard them, check out: Trauma, Lost Soul, Dies Irae. Crionics and Vesania are also great but they have more of a black metal angle.

I like a lot of the speedy death metal but I also like breakdowns occasionally, I guess really a band who can mix it up is ideal. I just don't care much for the bands who rely on the Suffocation/Deicide/C.Corpse clone riffs, who stick to the bottom 4 frets on their C string (B string, or whatever they tune to) and just chug chug chug to double bass. I can't hack that for an entire album.

My favorite death metal albums though are all still mostly in the late 80s/1990. Obituary's debut, Death's first two and Pestilence 'Consuming Impulse' which remains one of my fave metal albums period. 'Symphonies of Sickness', 'Left Hand Path', 'Realm of Chaos', etc.

Now there are some bands I have not heard (well, most of them). 'Cinerary', 'Emeth', great names.

Shit yeah, now that's what I'm talkin about. I have a bunch of those CDs but I'll go check out the others. Thanks man.

toggletoggle post by the_rooster  at Oct 24,2005 8:23pm
they're good, but pretty much are devourment jr.

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Oct 24,2005 11:18pm
Devourment isn't doing shit so I suppose someone has to take over.

toggletoggle post by dwellingsickness at Oct 25,2005 1:46am
All those Devourment-esque bands need to die

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Oct 25,2005 10:24am
Thank you very much for your input.

If that was for me......Anything to help steer someones taste toward good music....And sorry If I offended you,but ,chug chug, slam riff, chug chug ,Breakdown,Just is not my thing

I have a Devourment CD and it is indeed brutal, but brutal means shit in my book without songwriting, and there is simply no way I'm going to put that record on in 10 years and exclaim 'oh my, how timeless this record is!'

Well thanks for letting me know that my personal preferences are wrong.

No they are not wrong dude I never said that...I am just not into that Devourment -style stuff is all..Can't we all just get along....Here have a beer on me

toggletoggle post by menstrual_sweatpants_disco   at Oct 25,2005 5:17pm
I'm just fucking with you it's all good man. But how can you not like Devourment style bands. For shame!

What kind of shtuff do you dig? The stuff I dig the most I think is music that has a good balance of slams, groove, and blasts. I usually get bored when a band is all technical speed or just all groove or all breakdown.

toggletoggle post by mark fucking richards at Oct 25,2005 5:47pm
i don't really think devourment is slam/chug/breakdown/slam blah blah blah...maybe a little bit sometimes. most of their songs have a nice feel to em; the fast parts are perfect where used, the groove is always tasteful and the breakdowns are crushing. i've never heard them use the same one twice, which i consider to be difficult since most breakdowns are confined to a very simple formula. i full agree with MSD on this one, but i can see why a lot of people don't like them.

mike majewski from devourment put up a new song on myspace. go check it out if you're a devourment fan.

emeth and cinerary are fucking awesome; if you like cinerary check out liturgy. it's just matti way (disgorge-US, cinerary) with brodequin. emeth blew me away when they played the brutal domination show in worcester last year. they pull off the same sound live as they do on cd, only better.

some of my favorites at the moment include:
orchidectomy
mutilated
heinous killings (joe wolfe is the only member, and he created the sickest form of natural vocals-predator vocals...check em out on myspace)
guttural secrete
gutrot
cenotaph (not really 'brutal death metal,' but i can't get enough of them)
immersed in blood
malebolgia
incinerate
odious mortem
infected malignity
fleshless
godless truth

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Oct 25,2005 6:07pm
I've got some Fleshless, Godless Truth, and Gutrot but wasn't much into those. Cenotaph I've heard.

Orchidectomy and Malebolgia sound interesting, and I have to hear these predator vocals.

toggletoggle post by Notorious_D.U.G. at Oct 25,2005 6:18pm
Orchidectomy are killer. Implosive Disgorgence are also pretty frickin' bad ass.

I just listened to Animosity for the first time yesterday. Great stuff. True definition of "deathcore."

New Godless Truth is tight. New Disgorge (US) is a little better than expected. Corpse Carving would be the shit if their production didn't suck. And oh yeah, Creative Waste from Saudi Arabia is pretty neat too.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Oct 25,2005 6:19pm
I have that new Disgorge and I enjoyed it too.

toggletoggle post by mark fucking richards at Oct 25,2005 7:49pm
i need to hear creative waste if it's from saudi arabia, haha. it seems like bands from that part of the world do not fuck around.

lehavoth is from israel; very sick crowbar influenced death metal.
inhuman dissilency is also a good band
