So this IS happening after all...I've been listening to the Mouth record a lot and it's quite good. |

why not? |
a whole slew of us were planning on going. but it's 21+ now. Which means even the kids who are 21 that chill with me won't ge going either purely cuz it's out in quincy and who wants to go there without friends? |
The 21+ shows do seem to be the Bane of Attendance, but what can ya do, that's the club's call, right? The first ExAgenda show is 21+ and I already know a bunch of people won't be able to go which is why I'm working on another gig for all ages.
So Joe, you're allowed to book at Deedees again? |
I have the perfect shirt for you to wear there. |

go to the pvd show then ! |
i have no ride. i'd be willing to go if anyone in the boston area can hook me up with a ride. |
21+ shows usually make more sense monetarily though, 18+ and all ages shows usually have much higher overhead. For a band who will only draw a few extra people at a non 21+ gig, doing it at a non 21+ venue doesn't make sense. I might as well throw money out the window and not even bother booking the show.
If someone who is 21 doesnt want to go to Quincy to see this show, then they are acting ridiculous. This is a killer line up. |
agreed joe. i'll be at the quincy show.
but, also, the RI show is free. so, if anyone is impressed on night one, go to night 2. nothing to lose but gas. there's another thread out there about the RI show. it's right next to the truth. |
i 2nd that. i will also be at the quincy show, as well as PVD. brendan maybe we can have some buttzecks before the show, i haven't seen you since you moved out, you mess. |
ocean should stay in the area and use some of our time the next night to play a song or two in pvd. |
shrapnel ! said: ocean should stay in the area and use some of our time the next night to play a song or two in pvd. |
that'd be awesome! except that one of their songs is longer than your entire set....hhhahaah |
buttzex huh? don't mind if i do! ...you in the butt |

OCEAN and VoDR are playing w/ MotA Monday the 17th at AleHouse in Portland if anyone wants to make 3 nights out of it. |
For those of you who are coming the show is now VODR, Ocean, MOTA and then 2 punk bands whose names were not revealed to me. |
i know greg of mota has my number and is going to try and get me into the deedees show. hopefully that works out.
on a second not i heard Minsk is playing in portland soon. |
nope. i'm 20. which is why i'm bummed about the age restriction and also the reason why i know alot of people who are no longer aren't able to go. mota have a big following among kids who dig hydrahead stuff and most of them are 18-20. but if greg gets me in that's cool. or if you can joe, that would be awesome. i have no problem with paying. |
bump... get me a fake id! |
im going to this. i'm sneaking in if i have to. i don't give a shit. |

I'm still at work, but I'm leaving for this at some point soon. |
finally ... leaving work now.
damn it. |
i forgot this was tonight, i suck. |
MOA went home due to baby. |
the_reverend said: MOA went home due to baby. |
huh? |
one of the member's gf had a baby premature so they went homers, dooder. bummer. |
That sucks. I was going to ask how they were. Or if anyone knew what songs they played. |
Village of dead roads and ocean were awesome, unfortunately Mouth of the Architect was not able to make the gig. |
village of dead roads were okay. i thought the drummer didn't do anything of interest on his awful sounding kit and that the vocalists cleans weren't really styled towards anything. drummer had a sick isis shirt though.
ocean... all i can say about that band is amazing. they should be way bigger with doom kids. |
they will be, new CD.
and the sunn0)))/earth kids too. |
noise and doom kids are pretty much one of the same... pretty much. |
attendmyrequiem said: noise and doom kids are pretty much one of the same... pretty much. |
Well, noise rock kids maybe, but not pure noise fans (Merzbow, Aube, etc). |
anyone stay for that british punk band? fucking hilarious |
aaron, I think they were called Goldblade, not Thundertrain, but they should be called Thunder Train |

i dunno. the fact that hydrahead noise industries exists and so does neurot recordings just proves my point. |
I think that a lot of the "indie" kids are getting into drone.
so there will be a lot more nerd glasses to mix with the guys that don't wash at the earth show. |
good for them. better than listening to most indie bands... i have my exceptions:
cursive, minus the bear, and codeseven. |
attendmyrequim, did you have on an isis sweatshirt? cuz the kid who did was kind of a prick. |

It also proves my point....those are labels run by people who got their start with noise rock/metalcore/doom (same with Release/Relapse which started). Those are not originally noise kids. Other way around. I know many people into that stuff and some of them hate metal in all its forms (doom included).
But who cares? No reason to argue about it. Sorry for my earlier comment. |
it's just like those kids to jump into the next "cool" style, so they can say that they were listening to it years ago. |

no, i believe i was wearing a pelican hoody. and my bandmate, scott, had on the isis hoody. how was he being a prick? |
yeah, well we're kinda "arguing" the same point. I just wanted to state at shows alot of the kids i see at doom shows i see at noise shows. weather they got into it from some other sub-genre doesn't really matter to me. it's just the kids who dig seem to dig one seem to dig the other.

who cares were talking about Earth, Twilight, Tides, SUNN0))) and other awesome bands that are going to be playing here shortly. |
oh, you were the trendy kid with the pelican sweatshirt on. now i remember where i've seen you guys before. i think i saw your band once. what is the name of your band again? if you are in fact who i think you are, i left half way through. not very good, dude. but you know, keep going. someone might dig it someday. |
I doubt you saw my band unless you were one of the 10 kids in Jonah's basement. Everyone there knew we had only been together for about 4 or 5 weeks before that "show" and that we were playing just to see if Jonah could get away with having loud music come from the basement of his new apt. the name of my band is We are Titans!. I hope you show up to our future shows, so we can make you stand outside in the cold while you avoid hearing our awful music. That's actually our goal as a band. To make people cold while we keep all the heat for ourselves. Titans are greedy bastards. |

oh, my mistake. never heard of we are titans. sounds nifty. |
Fun show. We we're alittle out of it, not our best set. Thanks to everyone who came out. We will see you again soon. BTW Doug from VoDR lost a bag of peadels and shit anyone see it/ grab it? |
Reuben, did you get the number I posted?
I will try to head down there tonight to see if it's laying around. |
village of dead roads: I sort of agree on the drumming. it was much different from ocean/conifer. they had a good feel to them over all and a lot of parts that I liked. I'm not sure about the whole clean singing... but good none the less.
it was funny to watch them cause there was some fucking/drinking/partying TV playing behind them. I kept finding myself spacing out and watching the tubes.
ocean: what an awesome band. I think that they will definitely do well with the new cd and all. I think that deedee's is a little too small for them. they need to have a bit more room so they can crank up the volume a bit. I think they were playing with their set up on 3 so some of the really sparce parts weren't as thick sounding as they usually are.
Dr. Phil was playing behind them. that was funny.
Goldblade: they probably had the best crowd response and participation of any band that I've seen at that venue. they were a middle aged punk-rock band. the music wasn't really good or anything, but it was fun for the people that were there to really enjoy the show. |
