Soooo, I'm finishing up on work today, got a sweet 86 Black F-350 Ramp truck I'm detailing-easy job just sits for the most part, to light to compete with internationals. I got my boy Timmy working with me, good friend, went to school n sped with his bro-we work awesome together. At the other end of the garage the 3 Brazilians are doing a PT Cruiser for the most part a simple job for 3 heads. I'm finishing up wax when the Brazilians start throwing shit at us (a basketball, sponges, rags, spray bottles) much to my surprise and wonder why they are doing this, I continue to work and just ignore it. So now I'm shampooing a floor mat on the table, another Brazilian comes over with a big brush and smashes it on the bottom of a table which is metal, makes a huge sound much like a balloon popping. I respond "what was that for" next thing I got the 3 Brazilians yelling at us for 10 minutes, "american guys, cocksuckers" "americans guys no good" "american guys piece of shit" "american guys discriminate us" This is a big surprise to me, I've been nothing but incredibly nice to these fuckers since they first arrived in the shop, I've all bought them English Dictionaries, bought them lunch, casually talked in portugues on the phone with them, covered for them when they bail to go to part time jobs...Fuck, after several minutes of this shit something inside of me started to tick, usually we joke around alot and bust balls but this was something different, they were really pissed at us for no good reason. So I go to the only one that speaks English, I put my hand on his shoulder and politely ask "what's the problem?" Suddendly he grabs me and the next thing I know this fucker has me a half nelson or whatever and he's fucking PISSED at me. So I'm throwing him around a little but I couldn't break the fucking hold, so I back off and just keep repeating to him to "calm down" and "no mas" the fucker won't let go! Timmy's standing there asking me, "you guys joking" "hey timmy, he doesn't understand anything" Then the fucker calls in another Brazilian and somehow he puts me in a headlock, WHAT THE FUCK!! Finally the fuckers let go, I tell him repeatedly "dude, calm down" i didn't even really fight back, I wanted to hit so fucking bad, but me being a responsible foreman I refused to. Fuck like I said I've been nothing but nice to the kid since he's been here, I was fucking shocked at the response from him. The kid had long finger nails and cut the shit out of my neck/throat, I bleed pretty good. So when my boss returned from dropping off a car, I told him what happened, thankfully my boss took my side (what a surprise) and really ripped into the kid, that fucking made my day, not exactly the way I like to end it at work though.
For the longest time I've been incredibly supported of immigrants but this fucking made me sick. I've bent over backwards for these fuckers and this is the thanks I get. What the fuck. Fucking kid couldn't even look me in the eye when he shook my hand at the end. My boss is retarded for not firing him. Now this fucker will hold a grudge against me forever. Good thing I'm going back to school, cause I'm literally fighting to keep my job. And that's that.

Exactly, it doesn't make sense at all, the action they took was shocking. It's mainly because 2 of the 3 don't speak any english. The one the speaks english is a fucking snake, he first showed up at the shop claiming not to speak any english, then after a week he's speaking it perfect, not mention he tells us that he's been here for 3 years. It's actually simple to understand why they did that, the english speaker is sorta the head one, only cause he speaks the language. I tell them what to do reguarly, they get very irritated with it cause they only want to listen to my boss, but since my boss is retard and can't express how shit should be done to them in English, in comes me as translator. Essentially what's going on is the main Brazilian is simply lying to the rest of the crew about what I'm saying. He's trying to pit the rest of the crew against me.

Josh, don't fight no Brazilians. Most of those guys coming over here for work can scrap like hell. I've dealt with a LOT of them in the restaurant business.

They're in the wrong. Best thing to do is fire the first one to open their mouth or be insubordinate. If the others don't catch on right away, keep firing them 'til they do.

There's a LOT of honest brazilians and haitians moving here and working their asses off. As a people, they work long hours and work damned hard, but that's a broad statement. Just like with any group, there's still the occasional assholes and rebels. A lot of them come here just to escape what they don't like, not to take part in what they do like. They hate our laws, culture, and country. I've had one of my best employees (Haitian) admit to me she hated america, didn't respect our laws, and was only here for education and money.

Good luck man, and make SURE you document ANY action you take with these guys in writing, right down to telling them to "chill out". Documentation is what keeps you from getting sued.

I agree with the "there are assholes of all kinds" comment, I work with more than a few Brazilian immigrants. They all love the fact that this country, mostly, has embraced them for their hard work and for the fact most of them have very high family values. I have no problem letting people into the country that want to make something of themselves and that respect what the country has to offer. But those that don't can take the first plane/ boat or bullet home.

that sucks Josh. You need to get someone else to translate to this kid, so your on the same page. I've worked with damn near every race in this country, and Brazilians are some of the hardest working people ever. I used to manage a crew of 10 guys, (mix of whites, blacks, Brazilians,
P-rican, Indians). Over the coarse of 2 years, the entire crew became Brazilian. Not to shit on the other races, but they were the only reliable employees I could find. 70 hour work weeks with no complaints or full nelsons!
