I think playing with Hell Within scores them mallcore points. How come devil driver is not on the bill?

hahaha, that's hilarious. sounds like something i would say. pillory would have to do a whole world tour with hell within/devildriver to earn enough mallcore points to offset the tech/death/grind points they have accumulated.

can i get guest listed. i don't wanna pay for this.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jul 26,2005 9:25am
It's a pretty good record, I just listened to it. Reminds me of a more deathmetal/grind Botch, or Gorguts 'Obscura'. My hat is off to you sirs.

I saw what I believe to be the first Pillory show ever, and was hoping to be as blown away as I was with Virulence, unfortunately that didn't happen. However if the person above is correct in comparing this to good death metal, Botch and Gorgut's Obscura, I will purchase.

toggletoggle post by attendmyrequiem forgot his password at Jul 26,2005 1:56pm
Mike, i'll be picking it up. you'll here it here some night. ohhh yeah dude matt's having 2 kegs on the 5th.....sickness

Oh my god I love you. I can't believe you just compared us to Botch. Seriously, I love you.

I assume you speak of the All Asia show. Please GOD, don't judge us by that. I think I stood still the entire time wondering what the fuck we were doing there. Come to the show sunday at Harper's Ferry. If all you have to go by is the all asia show, you'll be AMAZED.

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jul 26,2005 9:43pm edited Jul 26,2005 9:43pm
Hey, no need for man loving. I've listened to the record more than the new Opeth, which I also just acquired. (That might not seem like a compliment, but I meant it as one...heheh).

toggletoggle post by ArrowHead nli at Jul 26,2005 10:05pm
Sorry to get so excited. You just caught me off guard when you compared us to possibly my all time favorite band. It definately beats all those "Mall Core" reviews!

toggletoggle post by DrinkHardThrashHard  at Jul 26,2005 10:09pm
Yeah, I had seen those reviews too, but I usually listen for myself, and I'm real picky when it comes to anything mallcore/metalcore, so I can definitely say this is not mallcore.

I've pimped it a little on some boards and to some friends. Some of them will probably pick it up, legally or otherwise.

I wouldnt compare it too much to obscura...that album is too twisted. The drumming on the pillory cd is INSANE, i love the blasting and i love what he does. THe guitar work is equally as good, however I believe they need to get more too the point during some songs , maybe play more of the DM styled riffs they are really catchy when they play them. The only down fall of this disc in my opinon besides the repitition is.........the vocals. I LOVE chris' gutturals they were sick in virulence and definalty sick in pillory , but the lead vocalist does a lot of stuff thats just not my cup of tea. If he was lower and more intense I think it would add an overall darker tone to the disc. Oh also the bass work on the cd is amazing. Personally I miss virulence the guitar work in that band was seriously my favorite ever , but pillory is the closest thing I can hear to virulence. Honestly pillory is one of the best bands coming out of mass at this moment. Cheers to them and I cant wait to hear more in the future.
