beyond the irony, i think they are just fucking terrible. i dont take my "fantasy metal" or whatever you want to call it too seriously...but this is just so clearly a joke. fucking dumb. i would be totally indifferent but i have to keep hearing about them so i hope they die right quick |

I like them a lot. Not sure where you guys see it as a "joke". They're just playing straightforward old-school metal. If this makes them posers, then what about Manowar, or Rhapsody?
As a matter of fact, for reference, I have an older friend who listens to all 80's metal like that. Manowar, Rhapsody, King diamond, Maiden, Queensryche, Fates Warning, etc... This is one of the only bands to come out in about half a dozen years that the kid likes or can get into. I think the last band he got into was Nevermore. He never got into newer stuff like most of us play or listen to.
If it's not your style, I understand. However, such dismissive judgement that every new metal band to come along and achieve a bit of success are posers, or metalcore, or whatever, is just foolish. |

Hooker, you of all people! You're a maiden fan, right? There's definately quite a few riffs you'd dig on thier first couple albums. I've never heard the new one. Just check out "Kill the Orcs", it's on thier myspace page. It's not ironic or posing, it's people actually having FUN playing metal. Isn't that what YOUR band does? |

I like plenty of straight forward Heavy Metal and Power Metal, including many new bands. Hell, I think RHAPSODY is pretty much total crap, but I don't think they are a joke band out to make money by parodying a style that's suddenly kind of en vogue again, like 3IOB is.
Tell your friend to check out some METALUCIFER and GAMMA RAY.
Let's not forget that 3IOB is in large part responsible for the break up of GOATSBLOOD! |
