go to ebay

I just got a decent deal on a Boss DR-202 and a Boss DR-770 (go with the latter. 100 songs, velocity sensitive, much more sound control)

don't have any model suggestions, but aren't all the major chains having holiday and end of the year gear sales?

i have a Zoom RT-123 and love it. It has about 60 full kits and then 20 effected drums and assorted percussion. You can use 2 kits at the same time, plus it has 24 bass sounds with changeable notes. Very easy to use. New it was only 150$, so it must be no more than 100 used on egay.

i just got a dr-670, its a better version of the 770 basically. its awesome.

tons of memory, easy to program, real sounding drums and a whole variety of kits to choose from, as well as builing your own kit, and relatively cheap, i got mine for 300.

I have a zoom rythmtrack 234. it's got 120 different kits, 48 bass sounds, and it's really easy to use. you can probably find one for super cheap on ebay.

I maxed out the memory on 2 boss dr-660's. With only 4 songs.

yeah those are awesome machines for the amount of tweaking you can do to the kits and whatnot, but you really need a sequencer or some sort of external mmemory to make them really useful. that said though, it's my favorite machine that i've used.

Out of curiosity, what do you need the drum machine for? Recording?

I used my ddr-660's to write songs when i wasnt in a band for my side project. Now i have my own drum kit, so i write ruff drum machine parts to the guitar riffs, record alll this, then i have the guitar parts in "time" so i can then lay down real drum tracks, then record everything else.

My drummer uses his drum machine to write drum parts to go along with his guitar riffs, and records the song that on his 4 track, then i dump it into prostools and burn to cd, so everybody has audio of what we are learning. Im quite surprised how close his actually drum parts mimic the drum machine parts for the newest song he wrote.

Its just another cool tool.

what pissed me off about the Boss 670 was that it kept defaulting to the bass AND drums. The bass sounded so queer, I just wanted to throw the fucker every time I heard it

I haven't had that problem with the 770

Drum machines suck. Youre less of a human being if you use a drum machine. Real creativity spawns only from really real drums with um.....triggers. yea thats it. Because only bands with tight clean crisp sound should ever be taken seriously. In fact the only thing you can ever play with a drum machine is black metal you homo. Because they dont know how to play their instruments and they like shitty recordings. And dont pretend like you cant afford the most expensive up to date equpment imaginable either. My mommy and daddy bought me MY equipment. Why arent YOURE parents rich? In short im better than you because i can afford better equipment so im gonna sit way up here on my imaginary throne and talk down to anyone who doesnt like or play EXACTLY the same music i do.....because im better than you remember?

Eventualy yes. But for now I just need something to jizzam to. I trial off to much when I play with someone else, so for now I need a drum machine so I can do what I want.
