I dont know if it really kicks ass, probably not when you're a kid though. My birthday's in March but my mom send me a check the other day for 1000 euro (to pay my hospital bill and for the move) and she was like "that's for xmas and your birthday, you won't get anything else" so I figure it's probably the same for December birthdays...must be a hole in the wallet for parents...
