We are hoping to find a label to back this CD. Mostly we want help paying for it, since we're all broke. Any suggestions?

this is us, for those who don't know:

The Taste of Silver
Arlington, MA

sounds like: stuff
genre: you pick

www.thetasteofsilver.com

we play whatever. we're not really one style of band. we play out constantly, work our asses off, and tour like the dickens.

feel free to point us out to friends with labels. We're fairly picky about what we commit to in an agreement...we don't want anything big (nor expect that! it's our first real release as a band!) but we would like a fair deal...smaller labels a plus.

suggestions?

oh PS - we already have it recorded and mastered. All that's left is duplication; pressing if we do vinyl

sent one out to Level Plane and OneOhFive.

toggletoggle post by CongoogetalZobotomy  at Nov 20,2004 1:24am
anyone of those awful emo/metalcore labels they seem to suit your band

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Nov 20,2004 1:29am
maybe we should just write the same song 100 times, and then pick a really trite band name. Got any suggestions? I hear you're a pro at both.

toggletoggle post by attendmyrequiem at Nov 20,2004 2:37am
Um... all i can think of right now is No Idea records. the label that combatwoundedveteran were on.

toggletoggle post by attendmyrequiem at Nov 20,2004 3:56am

obviously you don't know what trite means either. a band name like disgorge is trite. a band name with corpse in it is trite. or anal. catching on there sparky?

I was looking for suggestions, muchacho!

and WWW - why the hell would I send anything to Trutskill? OMG everything on there bites these days. Eulogy has had some good stuff in the past...but we're looking for something a little more open minded and experimental.

you're a fucking moron and totally didnt get the point of his post, thus making yourself look stupid trying to explain that trite means worn out when that's exactly what he was trying to say in the first place. maybe you should learn more about grasping concepts than the english language.

"maybe we should just write the same song 100 times, and then pick a really trite band name. Got any suggestions? I hear you're a pro at both."

this would mean: maybe we should write boring songs that aren't original and pick a really unoriginal band name.

sorry that you had to make an ass out of yourself to figure that out.

maybe you two should go have sex with each other faggots....

also, your band is awful

trite ( P ) Pronunciation Key (trt)
adj. trit·er, trit·est
Lacking power to evoke interest through overuse or repetition; hackneyed.

key words you cock junkie, overuse and repetition. So basically there are tons of bands out there called Bane of Existence? Is that the news flash? Hmmm, don't know of any other Bane of Existences out there. Thus there being only one no overuse of a band name. Simple really. It's a shame you didn't catch on.

And here's my news flash, 98% of metal bands out there are not that original anymore . . . including BoE and TOS and anything you would ever think to conceive. Don't worry, we aren't heartbroken. We know we aren't original; we just have fun don't take ourselves that serious and don't pretend to be something we are not or better than we actually are.

And I got the point of his post. He was trying to be a funny tough guy, and like your attempt, it didn't work. I know you were only defending your boyfriend in the heat of passion, but try harder next time, champ.

98% of this post was bullshit that didn't need to be said. i know bands aren't original yadda yadda. you didn't need to tell me. but a band name can be trite in other forms than the same name being taken. the phrase bane of my existance is pretty overly used. thus naming your band bane of existance would be quite trite. this is only an example. so again... you should think of things more. it would help your arguement.

toggletoggle post by CongoogetalZobotomy  at Nov 21,2004 4:23pm
i dunno but i dont really ever hear anyone ever say "bane of my existence" that much or at all....

toggletoggle post by dugoxistance at Nov 21,2004 4:28pm
I'm still not convinced that you know what you're talking about. Continue making such broad generalizations to fight your arguements for you. I'm learning a lot.

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Nov 21,2004 5:00pm
dug - how on god's green earth do you like bands like All Else Failed and The Minor Times yet criticize the kind of thing we do? I think there's more at hand than feeling there's a musical clash or something here, because I could easily see us playing a show with bands like that and bein approved of.

show me a generalization?
you would be the one calling me tough guy and and all that shit. and saying im sticking up for a buddy. i met nick the other night. i've see TOS once.

toggletoggle post by dugoxistance at Nov 21,2004 6:36pm
dude. it's a fucking message board arguement. calm down. are you really that upset? for the sake of fuck, I'm having a small conversation with you in another thread. Well the way you "jumped to Nick's aid," it seemed kinda like you held too much emotional stock in what I said to him. My bad. Here I thought you were sticking up for something and someone you felt strongly for but you were just sticking your nose into were it wasn't needed or requested. Oh yeah, and the broad generalization was that the phrase "bane of my existence" is pretty overly used. It's not uncommon, but overly used? not in my opinion. Otherwise the original 4 of us would not have taken it as a name. Can we end this now? Even my fights with Nick are shorter than this.

Haven't heard AEF yet. And to my ears, TTOS sound nothing like Minor Times. You do have a slight Ken Mode/Pig Destroyer vibe to you but just something about your band just doesn't appeal to me. Same as BoE doesn't appeal to you. I've already voiced what my issues were with you and honestly I don't even care to remember what they were. I was chiming in because my band was insulted. The other guys in your band can do the same when TTOS is attacked. Doesn't bother me none. I have no control over the other guys. Fights on message boards can be fun in the beginning, but in the end who really gives a shit what people say or who doesn't like your band? It's like dry humping, feels good but you don't really get anything out of it in the end.

toggletoggle post by attendmyrequiem at Nov 21,2004 6:54pm
i'm not even the one taking this seriously. so sure. it's done.

toggletoggle post by BestialOnslaught  at Nov 21,2004 8:35pm
Both your bands have "of" in your name, you're both a bunch of unoriginal fucks!@!! LOLZZZK

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Nov 21,2004 8:43pm
dug - totally valid point, but who IS it in your band that constantly gives me shit? like it's really just too much. I don't mind joking around, and I can understand if someone doesn't like a bands toonz, but someone in your band has got a hard-on and won't let it go down.

toggletoggle post by dugoxistance at Nov 21,2004 9:24pm

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Nov 22,2004 3:23am edited Nov 22,2004 7:26am
actually, it's really generic to use the vowels in band names. i mean everyone does it. so lame and over used.....stop being so trendy, stop using poor over used vowels.

toggletoggle post by dugoxistance at Nov 22,2004 5:54am
Bn F Xstnc. i like it!

toggletoggle post by whiskey_weed_and_women  at Nov 22,2004 7:27am
now if we could all just stop using open chords and distortion then the trends will stop.

toggletoggle post by the_taste_of_cigarettes  at Nov 22,2004 11:18am
i don't think people use open chords enough.

unorthodox chord shapes pop up in music not as often as they should.
