see id agreed with all that if in 04 when they won and those sox said that the won it to heal the old wounds of teams past buckner came out and very against that statement not wanting anything to do with it.

This is what I'm talking about. Buckner put up some great numbers, yes. Was the 86 fiasco entirely his fault, God no. Obviously by this point everyone realizes that. On top of that I was 4 years old in 86, I can only be so upset about a game that happened before I knew how to spell. But W3 is right, 04 was the time to do the classy thing, and he chose to be a dick about it.

Interesting side note... when my brother, and I unwrapped our NES system, and starting playing RBI baseball for the first time ever back in the day, my dad flipped out when my brother put Bob Stanley in to pitch. Bob Stanley was never used on that game again. Fast forward to 2004, and the cry of Sox fans everywhere is "We forgive you Bill" I asked my dad at dinner one night if he forgave Buckner. He said sure. Then I asked him if he finally forgave Bob Stanley. His face tensed up as he shook his head, and just put his head down staring at his plate of meatloaf. My mom asked him who Bob Stanley, and my dad said "Just forget it."

i was turning 7 in 86'.
i actually remember most of it oddly enough...
my old man sounds like your pops.
